Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
I watched last night by chance. Didn't care for it. It seemed liked they glossed over a lot of the history and spent too much time on the previous two seasons, which everyone remembers anyway.
The section on the tornado was nice. Also, too much Paul Finebaum. |

Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
I found out Halloween weekend that one of my friends is in "Catching Hell".
In the brief section when they're talking about fans taking pictures of themselves in Bartman's seat or reenacting it, my friend is in there twice. He's first shown sitting in the seat with his feet propped up on the seat in front of him wearing red and white Nikes and then is shown reenacting the attempted catch with one of his friends. He has no idea how ESPN and/or Alex Gibney got the photos.

Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
Keep in mind that it's $25 per volume on the DVD sets meaning $50 for the complete set while the Blu-ray price is for the whole set.

Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
It's a nice set. I love that the Blu Ray set is only slightly bigger than a standard Blu case and yet contains six discs and like 40 hours of programming. Wish the extras were better, but it's a really nice set to own.

Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
^ The closing credits are rolling at this very moment from where I just finished it. I agree that it's pretty good.
Edit to add: Disappointed in that there was a Magic Johnson/Bill Simmons interview after the film finished. Only caught 2 minutes before the DVR cut off. I assume the film will air again. Hope to see the interview attached to it each time so I can try to catch it. Last edited by cardsfan111; 03-12-12 at 05:59 PM. |

You know, that just might be. I suppose the next thing you'll tell me is I might be able to listen to the interview online, huh?

Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
It's not ESPN, but I definitely recommend NBA TV's documentary on The Dream Team. It was really good. Learned a lot that I didn't already know about it.

Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
Dream Team Documentary was great!
-Jordan walking in on Bird/Magic after the last practice leading up to Spain, "There's a new sheriff in town!" -Isiah being left off the team cause practically every Dream Teamer hated him. Jordan, Pippen and Mailman hated him the most. -Larry Bird and Patrick Ewing becoming best friends during the Olympics. -Chuck Daly and Michael Jordan being arch-enemies in the late 80's/early 90's and bonding together on the Golf Course everyday in Spain. -The funny thing is I do remember the debate by many reporters that the team had too many superstars and we wouldn't win a Gold. I remember thinking even in 1992 that we would trounce every opponent because we were so far ahead of every country in Basketball. Although it would have been interesting to see the Dream Team in a close game near the end and seeing how the ego's dealt with one guy taking the last shot. Every game was such a blowout they never really had to worry about that, but I'm sure Jordan would have told them he was taking the last shot. |

Re: ESPN's 30 For 30 Documentary Series
ESPN Films has announced the return this fall of the Emmy-nominated documentary series
30 for 30, and is also expanding the brand to include a 30-part digital short film series. 30 for 30 Shorts will be a collaboration with Bill Simmons’ Grantland.com and will be similar to the feature-length films in that each piece will represent a specific point of view of the filmmaker and will be a reflection of how they blend the narrative with their own visual style. The 30 for 30 Shorts will premiere monthly on Grantland.com and each short will be complemented by a written feature and additional material to provide context. The first short, Arnold’s Blueprint, will premiere on September 26. Arnold’s Blueprint focuses on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s teenage years in the Austrian Army and is directed by Michael and Jeff Zimbalist, who previously directed the highly-acclaimed 30 for 30 film The Two Escobars. This 10-minute film focuses on the years before he was the “Universe’s Perfect Specimen,” when a young Schwarzenegger seized upon an opportunity to use the sport of bodybuilding to catapult himself to international stardom. The short documentary will show how the young Austrian farm boy’s mandatory military service played a critical role in his journey to international fame. Click on the following link for a list and a summary of the other 30 for 30 shorts - http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-re...grantland-com/ Last edited by LaxBandit; 08-04-12 at 04:41 PM. |
