Ranger home games on MSG have the "Subway" logo on the glass behind the nets - this started late last season.

Glencross suspended 3 games for his hit on Drury.
Yeah, it was pretty much inevitable given the media attention. Sadly, the NHL lets sports journalists call their suspensions for them. (I've seen way more questionable plays go unnoticed by the media and, ergo, unaddressed by the NHL.) Flames management and Glencross were smart to keep their yaps shut and take it though. You can't fight the media on this, especially with injury paranoia on the rise.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Regular Season Thread

Very consistent.

Glencross gets 3 games on a hit that didn't even draw a penalty
Richards delivers a much more dirty hit to injure, gets 5 a minute major and game misconduct and no penalty.

That makes two games in a row that the Pens lose a D and get shutout. Terrible road trip for the team.

At least Malkin looks to be back for the next game.

Pens need to get healthy. This is one of the worst run of injuries they've had in a long time.

Looks like the habs have switched starting goaltenders. Tonight they faced the Flames for the second time this season, and it was Halak again. He's looking pretty sharp actually. You don't lose games often when your goalie goes 0.967!

Looks like Ovie will be back soon. Practiced for the first time yesterday. The Caps have weathered the storm nicely w/o him, going 3-1.

Isles beat the Canes in OT last night to give them their 14th loss in a row. At least they showed some signs of life in the 2nd and 3rd.

They've been alternating, Price played the last game in Phoenix. Halak has been playing better than Price and deserves to be #1, but Price is protected by management because he's a first round draft pick. Halak is kindda screwed because he will never be #1 in Montreal unless Price completely self-destructs.

I'm really getting tired of these long ceremonies before every single Leafs game.Your a crappy hockey team just start the f'in game already! How many times do we need to honor Wendel Clark and now Russ Courtnall?

edit-then they go down 2-0 just over a minute in

OMG-I was going to say the exact same thing. I think the Leafs are trying to bring back the past since the present and future is so crappy. When are they going to have a Bunny Larouque and Curt Ridley Night(are they both still living)? I can't wait 20 yrs from now when they honor Vesa Toskala for having the lifetime worst save pct. for a Leaf Goalie. They could have all this pre-game garbage at 645pm. They do the same shit for the weeknight games. I know when the Leafs are playing at home-I watch something else for the first 20 minutes then the fun begins when they let in easy goal after easy goal and the management plays dumb when it comes to acquiring halfway decent goaltenders.

Pens score with 0.4 seconds left to tie it and win in OT. Exciting way to break a slump. Sure is nice to have Malkin back.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Regular Season Thread

Out at dinner tonight and missed the broadcast, but I just stayed up and watched the replay of the Pens game. That was great; and absolutely needed! Hopefully this is the shot in the arm they needed to start earning points again. Then when Sarge, Max, and TK come back, plus Tanger & Orpik, they can try to get on a roll into the second half of the season.

I think the Blues need to fire Andy Murray. This team is underachieving in a big way and before this season is lost, a change needs to be made. Thanks for last year's exciting second half. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

The Pens lose Goligoski for a couple weeks and are now missing their top four defenseman. Kunitz is out, too.

McKee is out for 2-4 weeks for the Pens. That is now 5 of 6 defensemen for the Pens, although Gonchar is due back any day.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Regular Season Thread

More injuries for the Habs too. After Markov, O'Byrne and Gill, they now lost Gionta with a broken bone in his foot. That's just great, we now have one guy left (Cammalleri) who can score...

On the positive side, after beating the mighty Canes (huh...) last night, the Habs are now 8-0 in OT/shootouts. And Price is finally playing like a #1 goalie.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Regular Season Thread

I just watched the worst game in the history of the NHL(don't be jealous). It was the crapfest between Toronto and Carolina. The Leafs lost it in the shootout when they decided to use Pee Wee League players and lost 2-0 in the shootout.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Regular Season Thread

I can't believe no one has brought this up. How long should a ref have to cover his ass with the intent to blow the whistle rule? And replay works better in every other sport that it's used. They actually have Toronto looking in as well and still got it wrong. Hockey is just a joke...they don't want to admit a thing. Hossa's goal in the playoffs last year was unbelievable, this is not a bigger game, but it's just as bad of a call against Dallas and it would have tied the game. Even the news media outside of Detroit thinks this is another example of how the NHL just not getting much right. Besides, when is Brad May going to score another goal?

You got that right and all the way to the top.

The league sort of admitted it was wrong but claimed there was nothing they could do because the ref had the intent to blow the whistle when he saw Auld make the save or where the puck was out of his sight. But the puck was in the net. So, technically, the very claim of intent to blow the whistle to end the play on a save, well, it wasn't a save it was a goal, and the league claims that they can't get involved if the ref says he had the intent to blow the whistle. That doesn't even make any damned sense since, even if he intended to blow the whistle when the puck went into Auld's pad, it really was already in the net. So intent should have nothing to do with it. The league should have said, "Well, you intended to blow the whistle when you thought the puck was saved in Auld's pad, but we can see that it never was, so when you intended to blow the whistle it was a goal not a save, so you need to count it." Pathetic.
