Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
Its always hard to believe when fighters "retire." Seen far too many instances of guys bowing out and coming back, rinse and repeat.
Rampage is especially hard to believe considering the wishy-washy whims of his personal and managerial life, both of which have been rocky the past year+. He'll make a try at the acting thing and when he doesn't have a project on the horizon and six months to twiddle his thumbs until a gig is lined up, bet your ass he'll reconsider fighting. The bottom line is, it is another instance of Dana's loudmouth getting him into trouble- a thing he will never learn to control- and a fighter tethering the reigns on their career. |

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
I'm pissed that Rampage and Rashad won't be fighting for a long time. That would have been a really fun fight to see and now all the trash talk during TUF will be bittersweet.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
Well, it wasn't going to be until at least March even if Rampage didn't so call "retire"..
I would be willing to bet they still fight next year and will be Rampage's first fight out of "retirement"..

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
Who knows, maybe this will go down like The Rock and WWE. Rampage may decide acting is a lot easier than getting punched in the face.
Dont get me wrong, I like Rampage, and really want to him and Rashad fight, but its his life. What I cant understand is (aside from delaying the fight) why didnt Dana support him? His ass was front row for Chuck during Dancing with the Stars. Why wouldnt he want a little cross promotion with a potential summer blockbuster? Heres a link I just ran across with Dana talking about it: Quote:
and now Dana's response to Rampage's posting: Quote:

Now, that's gone.. Even if Rampage didn't retire they still weren't going to fight until around March of next year which by then it would be similar to Hughes / Serra.. Drama = gone... Plus, Rampage supposedly begged Dana since he got in the UFC to have a fight in his home town of Memphis so the UFC made it happen and for what now... And, another thing.. The UFC stepping in and most likely having a pretty big influence in Rampage getting out of all that trouble he was in w/ the law.. I'd be pissed as hell if Rampage did that too.. EDIT TO ADD: And about Chuck.. Supposedly he's retired so that's really not the same comparing the two.. Not to mention him and Dana are like best friends..

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
You would have had to call him a TUF® noob and taken several shots at Dana White to sound like Delta.

Yup, but I don't know why.. I just seen his username in a thread a while back and seen "suspended" under it.. Not sure what the reason was..

From Rampages retirement post. It really seems like Dana's 2nd tirade was the straw that broke the camels back. You'd think he wouldn't want to alienate one of the few Marketable American fighters left in the UFC, esp in the LHW division. But thats Dana. Last edited by Thrush; 09-23-09 at 03:41 PM. |

Shivers gassed 2 minutes into the first round after laying on the guy for 90 seconds.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
Seriously, from what we've seen in two fights none of these guys had any reason to be talking shit about Kimbo.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
That fight was awful but I don't know how you give both rounds to McSweeney, especially the 1st.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V
Damn, 1 guy gassed out and another afraid to engage. I would've liked to have seen round 3 with either a pass out or more running
![]() Next weeks fight should be great.
