My brother is driving down from Wisconsin for the fights Saturday...any suggestions for bars/restaurants near the arena, Chicago-land residents?

Not saying this is going to happen it won't but what if Rogers KO's Fedor? That is going to turn things upside down...

What is really strange it seemed like CBS was trying to promote Rogers this weekend at the NFL games he was at the Chicago game. Rogers is from MN, they really should have tried to put him at the GB-Vikings game to help promote this. That was one of the most watched NFL games... So Fedor KO's him what could possibly be next? If Fedor wins no one is really going to think it is a great victory since Rogers has really only had a couple of real fights... This looks like it is going from bad to worse.

I think we had a few pages of discussion about this a while ago.

Cain vs Big Nog at 108 is close to being finalized.

I was not expecting that quick of a fight between Marcus and Mike.

Whatever... nice contribution are you pretending to be Delta?

Several pages back probably and even then so what you can't bring it up again? The fight is a few days out and I am sure everyone had memorized the all the previous posts.

One of my main points is why have Rogers at the Bears game when clearly they could have had him at the Vikes game since he is from MN it could have gotten more exposure for him if they would have promoted it correctly.

Rogers lives in MN now, but he's from Chicago.

He was probably there because that's where the event is and they still have tickets to sell.

jesus christ, fucking relax. i was simply pointing out that when this Fedor fight was announced many of us were talking about what happened if he lost. i'm not going to do a search to find it. why don't you not be a lazy ass and do some searching to find it yourself.

Brock vs Carwin isn't happening at 108 either per Carwin. Lesnar reportedly has mono.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V

I had mono in high school and it was a nightmare. It drains you of your energy and you don't really feel like doing much of anything. Not normal stuff like walking, and certainly not training or fighting I imagine. Not only that but after you get it, it can totally screw up your immune system for up to ten years, and that's exactly what it did to me. I got it in like '96 or so and it wasn't until two or three years ago that I totally got over it. In that ten year period I got sick way easier than I did before, and now I'm back to almost never getting sick.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V

Same here. I was almost hospitalized when I had mono as late-teen. I could walk about ten feet before I had to stop and couldn't make it up an 8-10 step flight of stairs without stopping, sitting down, and resting for a minute or two. On the plus side I had no school for a month and a half and the girl who probably caused me to get it took good care of me, not that I had the energy to capitalize on it.

When his doc prescribes him steroids to treat it, I hope Brock doesn't take offense and throw a fit like he did in that ESPN interview

I always thought mono was a childhood ailment. Like chicken pox or measles.

Cro Cop vs Rothwell is in the works for UFC 110 in Feb

Jacare is making his Strikeforce debut Dec 19 against Matt Lindland. King Mo is making his debut at the same event.

I was very surprised by how well Marcus did. I figured he'd just lumber around like an ox, gas out within a minute, and forget all his training once he got hit once. While it was a quick fight so he still might have gassed out, he showed some good skills in there. His reaching to grapple will get him in trouble, but that arm bar was impressive.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V

Man, that countdown show on Showtime was pathetic!! I know it was because the UFC has basically ALL the footage as legally theirs so why even bother having a countdown show when you can't even show how much of a badass Fedor is?

It is possible but not because of anything resembling logic or skill. I firmly believe it could happen simply because of the curse that Zuffa puts on all these rival orgs and the amazing one event nail in the coffin blunders that mark their downfall.

Watching the Strikeforce weigh-ins on HDNet, Rogers looks a lot better than the last time I saw him. Looks like a lot leaner 264 lbs than he used to be. Fedor looks his usual uninterested self .

Supposedly this is the 1st time he has actually trained full time for a fight. Before recently he was installing tires or something.

Strikeforce Challengers sounded like a pretty good card, I'm starting to miss Showtime lately.

Sounds like Sengoku had the Japanese judges strike again in the Hioki fight. All I've been able to find video of so far is the Santiago fight.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part V

Just 3 more hours.. Funny to think the last time MMA was on CBS they were hyping Kimbo as one of the greatest fighters in the world... Now, we actually get to see one, if not the, greatest fighter in the world on CBS..

Let's hope Roger's don't land that one shot to KO Fedor.. I got Fedor via armbar in R1..

Also very excited to see Mayhem vs Shields and also Mousasi vs Sokoudjou..

I love how they're vamping and running down the card while Werdum is just hanging out in the ring trying to stay warm.

Funny that Gus didn't mention why Silva was off fighting in Japan for a year
