Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
I was 50/50 on it. I don't think Brees is that much of an upgrade and I also don't know what to expect from Braylon Edwards this year. But considering I would have to start Chris Henry (who I do think will have a good year) it might be enough to keep me from making that trade.
I might counter with: Brees for Rivers and Desean Jackson or Brees and Domenick Hixon for Rivers and Edwards. Thoughts on that?

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
Why do you want to make this trade? What is the purpose behind it, WRT to your team? I get that you want to upgrade at QB, but it's not that big of an upgrade. When I want to look to trade, it is either because a) I have a glaring weakness I need to fill, or b) I can upgrade at one position without hurting me because I have a lot of depth at the position I am losing a player from. In your case, that would mean I have a lot of depth at WR and could afford to trade one to get the upgrade at QB. To me, doesn't really seem like you fit either of those.
Of course, you may have different philosophies, but I haven't seen why you think this is a trade you want to do.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
The trade was proposed to me, so I'm just considering it. After hearing opinions I'm leaning toward no right now but it's only fair to consider it and a counter trade as well. Plus I have Matt Schaub on my bench and only picked him up as trade bait. If he has a good start I can trade him to a team that's weak on QBs but has a good WR.

If Schaub does well, you're right, you could trade him, possibly. My inclination would actually be to try to trade Rivers for a stud WR like Moss, Johnson or Fitz (maybe not Johnson because they're on the same team). I'd rather have Schaub and Moss as my QB-top WR combo than Rivers and Williams.

I never really thought about trading Rivers for a stud. That does make sense. The guy in our league who has Moss is looking for an upgrade at QB.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
Who to start at RB (non-PPR league):
Westbrook @ CAR Gore @ ARI Portis @ NYG I'm already starting Forte, but I'm stuck as to the other RB...Westbrook is my obvious choice, but I'm not sure about his knee. |

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
I hate westbrook...sure he puts up good numbers but all his injury concerns always makes him questionable on the injury lists and its just too much worrying about. Plus he's old now.
I'd go with Portis. |

If Westbrook is healthy, he's a definite start. If he's not playing, I like Gore's matchup compared with Portis.

So far the only player that has been confirmed to be sitting out is Pierre Thomas.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
So I had McNabb as a 3rd round pick in my draft... ugh.
I'm left with Trent Edwards as my backup, or could pick up Flacco or some other lower tiered QB to replace him. Any ideas? Stick with Edwards? |

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
Flacco had some big numbers yesterday, granted it was against the Chefs, so he wouldn't be a bad pickup. You could always pick up Kolb.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
I had McNabb and Flacco as my QBs. I think Flacco plays SD next week so not an easy foe, but probably worth a shot. I like him better than Edwards actually.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
Santana Moss more or less totally screwed my chances of winning. Now I need SD defense to outscore Gostkowski by 14. ugh.

I'm in great shape with a six-point lead. I just need Rivers and TO to combine for less than that.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
It all ends today for me.
I have McFadden, Brady and Moss vs. Rivers, VJax, Gates, Kaeding and Lee Evans. I have a 22 point lead, but I think it will come down to the wire. Also in another league I am against LT and SD Defense, so I just have to root for the Raiders as a whole. |

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
I'm down 7 with LT, Kaeding, and the SD defense going tonight. My opponent just has Vincent Jackson.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
In Yahoo leagues, do special team touchdowns (Kick/Punt return) not count for the defense?
I'm up against the Eagles defense and they only have 29 points. From my calculation they should have 35 points for 5 sacks (5 pts), 5 picks (10 pts), 2 fumble recoveries (4 pts), 1 defensive td (6 pts), 1 return td (6 pts) and allowing 10 points (4 pts) I also see that Cleveland only has 3 points on the waiver wire and it didn't count the punt return TD that Cribbs got. |

Nope, whoever returns it gets the points.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
I'm guessing that Brees deal is off the table now that Brees blew up and Braylon did absolutely nothing. Not that I think it's any better of a trade now.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
I have Anthony Gonzalez for my TE. Now that he's out for 4-6 weeks should I dump him? That's a third of the season and he probably won't do squat when he returns. Not sure who I can pick up in the mean time.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
Braylon did have that sweet fingertip TD catch that was called back. So his line could easily have been better.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009
Tony Gonzalez is a TE and is not injured. Anthony Gonzalez is a WR. Do you guys start WRs for TEs or something?
