Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Pierre Thomas did participate in practice today, so who knows....who knows.

In my PPR draft, Barber went in the 5th round.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Pierre Thomas only participated in individual, not team drills. If someone is choosing between Bell and someone like Holmes who needs to get into lineups today, however, I'd go with Holmes. If your guys play on Sunday, then wait and see what happens with Pierre.

In the DVDTalk FF League #1 someone already traded S. Jackson for M. Barber!?!?

My first 4 rounds went like this

1. DeAngelo Williams 2. Steve Slaton 3. Greg Jennings 4. Marion Barber

I too was shocked that Barber slipped that far. I don't like Marion Barber but at that level I'll pick him up. Unfortunately, this is not a PPR league, otherwise I would have destroy I think.

I hate Steven Jackson with a passion. Had him two years ago and he disappointed and the on the news the he had been having colonics before the start of last year I thought that the whole cleansing thing was a good thing so I picked him up. Disappointed me last year too. I no longer draft Steven Jackson nor Braylon Edwards in any draft from this year forward

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

So was late to my draft last week and got Brandon Marshall auto picked for me. Do you pretty much have no choice but to start him? I'm getting my lineup set for this week since Santonio Holmes is going tonight. I currently have Roddy White, Santonio Holmes and Earl Bennett in my line up, with Marshall currently on the bench. Thoughts about subbing in Marshall for Bennett?

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

If Marshall is playing, I'd have no problem starting him as my WR3 over Bennett.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I would wait until week 2 to see if Marshall is...

1. even going to play. Just because he's no longer suspended, McDaniels may still not play him. If he does, maybe it's for a few snaps and that's it.

2. even going to attempt to catch a pass or just bat it down like he did in practice

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I started Marshall partly out of attrition and partly out of failure to change my mind in time.

Just one of those FF things, but the guy I drafted as my seventh WR (Hixon) I ended up starting in week 1 along with Marshall.

I went with Holmes!

How does Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall feel about being back with the team? Does he think he'll have a big role on Sunday at Cincinnati?

The media doesn't know.

"No, thanks," Marshall said to an interview request, the third straight day he has declined to talk.

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, likely not wanting to give away any of his game plan, didn't say anything specific about Marshall's role for Sunday's game.

"We don't necessarily have a preset plan, and that's usually how we do it with our skill players," McDaniels said. "But he should be out there a bunch and contribute a bunch also."

Marshall could lose a few plays to Jabar Gaffney if Gaffney plays Sunday. But after not playing in the preseason, Marshall will be a part of the Broncos' plan against the Bengals.

"Brandon certainly will (contribute), and he's had a good week of practice," McDaniels said. "But we're going to use a lot of people. It's going to be hot."

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

A guy in my league sat Heath Miller in favor of Randy McMichael.

Yesterday afternoon, I was tempted to replace Braylon Edwards w/ Justin Gage.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Question -

I have Adrian Peterson and Marion Barber starting as RB this week. Also have Kevin Smith and Julius Jones on the bench. Should Smith replace Barber?

Yeah. My only reason for not starting him is....the Detroit Lions. But it's against NO's defense.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Dallas is playing Tampa...usually Tampa's defense is solid but i'm not sure this year, especially with a first time head coach and very little experience in other coaching duties.

Detroit is playing New Orlean's who has a very bad defense but they can also score. I wouldn't be surprised if the Saints run up the score early and the Lions would have no choice but to throw the ball.

I think I would stick with Barber but then again for some reason I don't trust Kevin Smith enough

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I usually don't try to get cute in matchups; my "stars" get played regardless of who they are up against, and I only consider matchups for my weaker positions or if I have 2 "stars" and only one open spot. At this point, till proven otherwise, Barber is clearly a fantasy "star" and Smith isn't. I'd go with Barber.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Hmmm....now that McFadden has been named the starting RB for the Raiders and he is expected to get 20 touches, who should I start?

McFadden vs. SD
Addai vs. Jac

League has 1.0 PPR

All week I was leaning towards Addai, but both of these backs are in a similar place. The only reason I am switching and leaning towards McFadden is I think the Chargers will be blitzing and Russell will have to dump the ball off to McFadden.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I play in a Yahoo leauge and we keep scoring standard. We have 3 WR's.

Would you make this deal:

Drew Brees for Phillip Rivers and Braylon Edwards. Rivers and Edwards are mine.

If I trade Edwards my remaining WR are Roy Williams and Desean Jackson. I'd have Chris Henry and Steve Smith (NYG) too. I would have to start one of them. Probably would be Henry.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I started Kevin Smith, and he has a good history against NO. On the other hand, last year when I had both Smith and Barber I hardly ever started Smith . I think you're fine with Smith, but I would have difficulty benching Barber under any circumstances other than injury.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I would not do the trade, I don't think Brees is gonna end up with that many more points over Rivers at the end of the season.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

So you'd have to start Henry or Smith (Giants) every week? Personally, I don't see Brees as that much of an upgrade over Rivers, but if you do, it's not entirely unreasonable.
