Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Thanks Goat

Just worried the Bengals might look sluggish since they are coming off a bye and they are the Bengals so they don't know how to handle success

Roddy White faces the Redskins 3rd ranked pass defense

Does anyone read the NFL.com start or sit em thread and what is the overall opinion on that column?

http://www.nfl.com/fantasy/story?id=...s&confirm=true

it seems like whoever their start of the week usually gets jinxed like Cedric Benson vs Browns 75 yards rushing or Steve Slaton vs Bills?

This week it is Matt Hasselback.

Warner at Bears
Cutler vs. Cards

Warner clearly has the most upside, but after last week I'm not so sure.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

So I am looking to upgrade at my RB spot and a guy in my league said he would trade either Thomas Jones or Cedric Benson for Kurt Warner or Philip Rivers. I'm going to put together a proposal some time this week. Who should I trade? I would also have to drop a RB off my roster to make room, who to drop?

Lesean McCoy
Julius Jones
Shonn Green
Jamaal Charles

Warner

Cutler did not a TD vs the Browns.

He can't score on the Browns? That is sad.

Warner has the easier remaining schedule but he does not look the same as he did in 2008.

Trade Warner for Benson. Jones is good but Sanchez has to be a liability for Jones.

Drop Jamaal Charles since the Chiefs stink and they might not use him that much since they will always be behind.

L.T. @ NYG or
Mendenhall @DEN?

Currently have L.T. in there due to the Giants D giving up a lot more pts to RBs than the Broncos.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Another bad bye week for me, with all my #3 WRs (SRice, Berrian, LEvans) and my top two TEs (Shiancoe, ZMiller) out, so I'll have to go with Kelley Washington and Ben Watson. I'm taking a shot at Moats but at 2-6 it's not worth spending the $ to pick up bye-week WRs/TEs. I should probably start to look at trading some of my assets to the contenders really...

I'm wondering who I should start at QB this week:

Roethlisberger @ Denver
Warner @ Chicago
Alex Smith vs. Tennessee

I'd go with L.T.
Mendenhall has yet to put up great numbers against a decent defense, and Denver continues to surprise everyone with how good their defense is playing.

Can't believe I'm saying it, but ... maybe Smith. Or Warner, though coming off his last game I'd be hesitant.

Actually, TEN has Cortland Finnegan back from injury (pro bowl corner) and they replaced Nick Harper (who stinks) with Rod Hood who got an Int last week. So their pass d isn't that bad. I'm leery of picking Warner on the road in cold weather. So I think Ben Rothlisberger might be the best play.

Who should I start?

Phillip Rivers @ NYG
Schaub @ Colts

Tought choice as Rivers is playing on the road in the cold but against a weakend Giants secondary.

Schaub is playing at the Colts who own them.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I'd probably go with Rivers because I think the Giants secondary (especially the safeties) are a bit weak. Is Andre Johnson playing this week? I heard he suffered a chest injury last week. Their TE Owen Daniels blew out his knee last week, too. I'd check the Texans injury report before making a decision.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

A lot of tough choices this week:

Schaub vs IND
Orton vs PIT

Yeah yeah.. go with the stud, but I think he's really missing Owen Daniels right now. And I think either QB has a tough defensive match up.

M Austin vs PHI
B Marshall vs PIT
A Collie vs HOU
M Crabtree vs TEN

I think M Austin is a no-brainer. But Marshall was non-existant against the Ravens. Collie is a question mark. Crabtree is seeing more looks from A Smith.

Baltimore D vs CIN
Indianapolis D vs HOU

If I start Schaub, I'm going with the Ravens D.

And is Westbrook or McCoy worth a start/flex? My other RBs are Portis and P. Thomas. Right now I have Westbrook at Flex.

Yeah, I'm kind of hesitant about Warner. Don't think he can play as badly as last week, but this looks like a tough matchup for him.

Matt Ryan

Cutler has now done that much except for the Lions game and Cardinals are undefeated on the road.

LT is more of a flex player. I would not start him as a RB1 or RB2.

Raiders are a sad run defense and LT except for 2 TDs was held in check

The days of LT running over a 100 yards are over.

I'd go Schaub for QB. It's too hard to justify sitting the league leader in favor of Orton vs. Pitt. Go with the safe bet.

How many do you start? In order I'd start: Austin, Marshall, Crabtree (why not take a chance, Titans haven't been stopping anything through the air) then Collie. But I find it hard to justify sitting Marshall for either of the second two.

Baltimore D. I don't think either will do gangbusters this week but I'd stick with the safe bet.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Which RB should I go for in my flex spot?

Darren Sproles @ NYG
Jamaal Charles @ Jags
Willie Parker vs. Denver

I'm thinking of taking a chance on Charles since he's RB1 for the Chiefs right now. LT had a good game last week so I think Sproles will see the ball even less this week. I have no idea how Pitt plans on using Willie Parker but he's always a threat for a big game.

Err... this is Willie Parker in 2009, right? Even when he was the clear starter he wasn't that much of a threat for a big game.

Now watch him rack up 200+ yards this week...

Definitely start Charles, CJ ran for 200+ on them last week.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I'm completely stuck/out-thinking myself:

I need to start 2RBs, non-ppr league:

Gore vs TEN
Forte vs ARI
Grant @ TB
Westbrook vs Dallas

And I'm not completely sure of Westbrook's status, he was good to go yesterday, now listed as questionable. I'm leaning towards Gore and Grant.

At TE:

V. Davis vs TEN
Gonzalez vs WAS

Gonzalez has been my starter all season...Davis has been on my bench the past few weeks when he's decided to blow-up, once again, I'm stuck.

Thoughts?

Really? I never put him up there in the elite RB category but before he got hurt I thought he'd be a terrific guy to have in the flex spot since he's so capable of breaking one open.

Guess that goes to show you how closely I follow the Steelers.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Gore vs. Ten
Smith @ Sea
Westbrook vs. Dal
Stewart @ NO

This is a tough week. I can play 2 or 3, but I'm trying to keep 3 WRs this week with my flex.

Westbrook might play or might now. Same with Smith. If neither do, it's an easy choice, but I'm not sure who I should go with if I can only go 2 of these guys.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

still trying to decide whether to risk playing westbrook. he's late game and i wouldn't have anyone to replace him. on the other hand, i'm in dead last and there's no way i'm catching up to 1st, so i guess i should just risk it.
