Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I think your RB's are fine for a PPR league.

If Reggie Bush stays healthy, he's capable of catching 80+ catches, which is equivalent to what 13ish touchdowns?

Also, even though Mcfadden is in a 3 headed RBBC, he's still the main guy there and he's the one that catches passes.

I actually love your RB's and your WR's.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Hello!

Does anybody know if there will be a DVDTalk Fantasy Football League #3?

Didn't get in on the other two but I would have liked to participate.

Or, what about starting a 10-Team $10pp Yahoo League? 1st gets 70, 2nd gets 30.

I could do the whole commish thing unless a more well-known user would want to.

Just wondering, I wish I would've checked the sports forum sooner.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Usually it's just 2 leagues that run. It can take a couple of weeks to get everything organised etc.

Feel free to check out my post below about the free football league. I believe that there's still some spots open. It's just for bragging rights, but should still be fun

I think I'd drop Henderson for Crayton, but it's pretty much a lateral move.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Just had my draft for my big money league and I think I love my team.

I drafted out of the 6 hole in a 10 team PPR draft

1) WR - Randy Moss
2) QB - Tom Brady
3) WR - Marques Colston
4) RB - Kevin Smith
5) WR - Eddie Royal
6) RB - Darren McFadden
7) RB - Joseph Addai
8) RB - Reggie Bush
9) TE - Chris Cooley
10) WR - Devin Hester
11) WR - Steve Smith (NYG)
12) RB - James Davis
13) DST - Titans
14) TE - Dustin Keller
15) QB - Brett Favre
16) K - David Akers

We start 1 QB, 2 RB's, 3 WR's, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DST, 1 K.

I think my starting RB's are weak, but I think I have enough depth to overcome it.

I admit, there were some weird picks in this draft because 3 people were picking over the phone, but they still ended up with pretty good teams.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Not necessarily related, but is anyone running a DVDTalk suicide pool this year? I seem to remember this being an annual thing but I can't find anything about it yet and we're getting close to the season (praise Jebus).

Start Bush early, especially in a PPR league. As the season goes on though he will get banged up. I averaged about 20 points a games off him when he was healthy.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I had the 11th pick out of 12 in a PPR league.

We have employed the third-round reversal for the past couple of years. Also - Tight Ends get two points per reception.

We start a QB; RB; RB/WR flex; WR; WR; TE; K; D.

1. Randy Moss
2. Peyton Manning
3. Antonio Gates
4. Ryan Grant
5. Braylon Edwards
6. Ray Rice
7. Ravens
8. Lance Moore
9. Jake Delhomme
10. Leon Washington
11. Nate Burleson
12. Justin Gage
13. Jermichael Finley
14. Lawrence Maroney
15. Ryan Longwell

The only pick that I really regret is Maroney. Oh, well...

I think you could have waited on a QB and/or TE and gotten a better 2nd WR, but I don't know how your draft went.

With your second-to-last pick and only one RB required, there's not really much to regret.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I think it was fine picking a TE there and I assume Witten was already gone, or else you would have taken him there.

Getting an elite TE in this league seems beneficial since it's 2 points per reception, but I think Clark and Witten and possibly even Cooley would be better fitted for this league than Gates.

Brady, Brees and Rodgers were taken before I took Peyton. My QB's have killed me the last few years - I wanted to make sure that didn't happen again.

Witten was taken just before I took Gates, Clark and Gonzales immediately after.

I almost took a wide-out instead of a QB or TE, but an elite Tight End can essentially put up the same amount of points as an elite receiver (aside from a few, of which I already had one), and Gates has been a top three TE in our league for five years in a row.

Jennings, Smith, C. Johnson and White were taken in the eleven picks between my Peyton and Gates picks. Wayne, Colston, Welker, Boldin, Housh and Bowe were taken in the eleven picks between my Gates and Grant picks.

Williams, Owens, V. Jackson, Ochocinco, D. Jackson, Berrian, Royal, Marshall and Gonzalez were taken in the twenty picks between my Grant and Edwards picks.

Yeah, this is the most satisfied that I have been the day after the draft in a few years.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Fantasy rookie here ... need some advice on who to start ...

For my QBs I have Ben Roethlisberger (home against Tennessee) and Jay Cutler (at Green Bay) ... Passing TDs are worth 6.

For my receiving core (pick 3) I have Larry Fitzgerald, Wes Welker, Donald Driver, Dallas Clark (TE), Chris Cooley (TE), and Ted Ginn Jr.

We play 3 receivers (any mix of WR or TE) ... no special bonuses for TEs. Does anybody know what Welker's mystery injury is? Or is Belli-cheat going to keep Welker on the "questionable" list all year like he does Brady?

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

I would go Cutler as my QB. Fitz, Welker and Clark as my receivers. Ben just doesnt throw enough TD's to start against the Titans secondary.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2009

Appreciate the help! Ben had a pretty good game against Tennessee last year, however I just read that Green Bay had the worst pass defense in the preseason (for what it is worth) ... it looks like Ben's been benched and Jay makes the cut ...

Dangerous to have so much tied up in Moss/Brady.

Keller vs. Houston or Winslow vs. Dallas? I'd probably go Keller.

Until Winslow puts up some numbers down in Tampa, I would prob start Keller no matter who they play.

Yeesh, I might have to start Brandon Marshall and Domenik Hixon this week with Berrian dinged and Lee Evans going against NE. I took Marshall as a wait-and-see but I might not have time to wait after all.
