mmajunkie is saying Carwin vs Velasquez will be the main event at 104 in October. Carwin has accepted and Cain is expected to shortly.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
That's a great contenders fight, but I'm not sure it holds up as a great overall main event. Hopefully they put another high profile matchup on that card as well, but I'd probably pay for it either way.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
i think we are owed another free spike tv card, and even one that takes place in the states would be better (no 5 minute commerical breaks between rounds, even though its supposed to be "live") don't have to worry about spoilers and what not

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
I wouldn't be surprised if the next one from England is on spike, especially if Bisping beats Hendo and Silva vs Bisping is the main event.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
that could be a really good fight depending on which Anderson Silva shows up

"After that, I don't want no more warm-up fights. I'm hoping by my fourth fight, possibly fight Fedor Emelianenko at a catchweight. That'd be something that I'm looking forward to possibly by the middle of next year."

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
Strikeforce signing Tito is a weak move. I'm seriously losing faith in them. They arrange their cards pretty horribly and aren't signing any prospects, keeping it thin, not filling out their roster.
Tito has "name" draw with lunkheads, sure, but if he's shown anything over the past few years its that he's not competitively worth the high figure he demands. In the end, I think he's a waste of money. They just wont survive by focusing their effort on picking up expensive UFC cast-offs. Thats short term, not long term planning. |

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
Also i'm pretty shocked that they arent gonna put the women's fight on either ppv or have made it a CBS card.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
Cro Cop back with the UFC already?
http://www.411mania.com/MMA/news/109...t-Refuse\\.htm That site is basically just a news compiling home, but they apparently pulled the data from "Fighters Only Magazine." Not familiar with them either, but this would be odd. They report the Fertitas personally made Cro Cop an offer he couldn't refuse to come back. This is a lot of drama for a guy pretty far on the downside of his career in a division pretty stacked with young up-and-comers if you ask me.

UFC does top heavy cards, sure, and thats horrible, but you can at least (outside of HW ) look to each division and name a handful of wouldbe contenders floating around. Not so with Strikeforce, who to my eyes are playing to the same short term model that has killed every other faded org.Last edited by Slumbering Fist; 07-04-09 at 01:09 PM. |

Any organization is gonna have a shitty 99th event when wanting to blow their wad on the 100th in a few weeks.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
Explain when the TUF Finales have ever been good. They aren't designed to be marquee cards. Of course you already knew that.
