Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
I take every complaint back in my last post about UFC resigning older, past their prime fighters... For fucks sake, Strikeforce, since they went "bigtime," is being run by idiots.
Smart move. Dana'er knows that Vitor can be flakey, so best to capitalize on the Franklin win right away. And considering how Marquardt and Hendo lost to Anderson, I wanted them to each have at least one more convincing win before a rematch, so thats perfect. |

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
to Mirko's great career. Just like everyone else I would have liked to see him come back to form in the Octagon and make a run at the title but I guess it was just wasn't meant to be. Maybe he's hanging it up a little too late but IMO it's better to go in and lose it and have the game push you out than retire with the regret that you had something left in the tank and didn't use it.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
Is there a way we could get Baroni to just retire before he fights?

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IV
Im not so sure this is just pouting....
How soon we forget that we are just about a year/year and a half beyond Rampage's breakdown. Secondly, I wasnt totally impressed with his last fight. There didnt seem to be a second gear that someone of Rampage's caliber should have had. And while I like Dana alot and even more so for his shoot from the hip personality, it seems that at some point some1 is going to call his bluff and not put his tail between his legs and come slunking back to the UFC because they are the biggest ballgame in town. I think Rampage made up with Dana in good faith, and I think Dana refused to let the smoke clear from the plans that he had for the rest of the year being ruined and just kept shooting for the hip. And I can see where Rampage would think that this could hurt him going foward in a second career. I mean, its possible that Dana doesnt know everything about everything in show business. Rampage has been in a bunch of wars in Pride and he has been in a few wars in his stint in the UFC. Like Dana himself has said, if your head isnt in it going into the octogon, you shouldnt be in the octogon. Give Rampage credit for sticking to his guns and finding something that meant something this much for him to do and do it. Yes, he had an agreement to fight Rashad in Memphis when UF was over. But isnt the Light Heavyweight Division the deepest in the UFC? And if this is just Dana putting a pout on b/c he doesnt have a super free card to put on opposite the first Fedor/Strikeforce card on CBS, Dana just has to learn to get over himself on that one and just deal with the fact that M-1 are a bunch of idiots and have gotten him this 3 fight deal with a big if much lower federation (like TNA to WWE in pro wrestling) and MMA fans will watch regardless of what Dana says or does. Did I mention Im a huge UFC fan? |
