It sure seems the NFL goes out of it's way to put miss matched teams on that day.
The LIONS have sucked for years so that would be a no-brainer not to have them play on that day. Any drunken NFL fan can pick better match ups than the NFL does on Thanksgiving.

It doesn't seem that way at all. I don't think the NFL goes out of it's way to put on bad matchups. First, the tradition is there, so they have to work with that. Second, because both Dallas and Detroit are NFC teams, it means that NFL/CBS has only 2 choices for the game that goes on CBS. For example, this year, there were only 2 possibilities for the Detroit game: Tennessee or Jacksonville. Next year, when CBS airs the Dallas game, there are only 2 possibilities: Oakland or San Diego.

Seattle was a playoff team last year, so that matchup at Dallas looked much better in April.

Arizona at Philly was a solid matchup, except for the travel. As I said in the other thread, I think it is ridiculous to make a team do a 2000+ mile road trip on a short week. It is a major disadvantage. See Seattle and Arizona this year. The NFL needs to stop doing that, at least when they have a choice.

I've already made a case why the tradition makes a lot of sense in the other thread. It's anything but stupid.

I think people are making a whole lot of something out of nothing. It's not like Detroit is 10-40 in Thanksgiving games. They are about .500.

But now they just suck. Why even watch NFL football on THANKSGIVING with crap teams play and mismatches?
