What were your first four sports autographs?
1.)Bob Hogsett F-Detroit Pistons(he only played a few games in the NBA plus he played for Pittsbugh ABA-poor guy was murdered back in 1984) 2.)Tom Van Arsdale G-Detroit Pistons-he was keeping score and time on an amateur game at Cobo Arena before the Pistons game 3.)Tom Sanders F-Boston Celtics-We went as a group from school to a game and he came out of the lockerroom to a phone booth where we got his autograph upon him leaving the booth 4.)Bruce Martyn play-by-play Detroit Red Wings-I was flipping burgers at Hardees when I noticed Bruce as a customer.A woman who worked with me got the autograph for me.So out of the four autographs-two of them made it into there respective sports hall-of-fame.

Don't know exactly the first 4, but the first one for me was Johnny Bench in the mid-70s.

My first was Brooks Robinson. He lived 3 houses up the street from me growing up. Great guy. Quite a site going into in his living room and seeing 16 gold gloves.

Johnny U. was probably one of my first 4 as well. Just can't remember. I sure that another was former NFL Pro Bowler and Baltimore Colts D-coordinator (in the late 70s) Maxie Baughn - he lived across the street from me.

A bunch of wrestlers that worked in Florida at the time (Steve Keirn, Stan Lane, Lex Luger, etc.) came to the Shriners Hospital to visit me when I was younger after one of my first operations. So I guess that would be the answer.

First was Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley together (70's Auburn players). My father drove me to an airport in Ohio where he knew they were getting off a plane and they were surprised to be greeted by a little kid and a poster with them on it. Cool memory.
(Uh, we lived in Ohio... didn't drive from Alabama!) |

ETA: It was actually John Burkett who I got the autograph of. It was at a Pirates game, but he was one of the Giants. It was 1992. I remember strongly seeing Tim Wakefield pitch against the Giants one of the games out of the three we saw. Last edited by Jimmy James; 11-30-06 at 01:06 AM. |
