I haven't been able to watch boxing since Roy Jones, Jr. started getting beat by absolute bums. I can just remember watching him back in the day on HBO, I believe, and seeing him absolutey destroy his opponents. His skills dropped insanely quick. Although the Trinidad vs. Wright fight might be somewhat interesting to see.

I missed the Jermaine Taylor fight cuz of NBA All-Star weekend but it looks like he destroyed his opponent.
Bernard didn't look impressive the first few rounds cuz he threw like 5 punches per round but the second half of the fight he completely dominated as usual.

Very good up and coming fighter Miguel Cotto on this weekend on HBO. He's fighting against an opponent Mayweather took out a few months ago.
I would love to see a Cotto - Mayweather fight! ![]()

Cotto pretty much kicked the crap out of Corley but Corley almost took him out with one punch but couldn't finish the job. Since the fight was in Puerto Rico, the judge stopped the fight prematurely when Corley went down for the second time in the fifth round by taking a knew.

Yeah, that fight was a sham. He shouldn't have stopped it. The biggest news to come out of the fight wasn't Cotto winning....since he was expected to win from the very beginning. It was the fact that Corley almost beat him. Cotto seems extremely vulnerable to Corley's shots yesterday. He didn't seem to have any elusiveness at all. I'm sure the top 4 guys in that weight division watched and now realized he may not be as tough as he sounds. Maybe just another Fernando Vargas...?

Whoa, you guys are flammming Cotto because he didn't win impressively enough? He f$%^ing won, didn't he?
Comparing Cotto to Vargas is a cheap shot. |

Ummm....did you miss the word "maybe" in my post? Yes he won....but he almost got knocked the $%@# out in front of his home crowd. I'm not saying Cotto isn't any good, but if he gets dominated by Mayweather and Tszyu then my statement will be true. The only two fighters he has fought of substance are Lovemore N'Dou who he went 12 rounds with, and Corley who was 1 good jab away from ending his night. I'm not putting an "elite status" label on him yet. As of right now, he's just another star on the rise.

^And I actually thought that the scored knockdowns in that fight weren't real knockdowns. The 1st was really more of a push and the 2nd was from a borderline low-blow. But hell, Corley deserved to lose anyway because he had an entire round to get rid of a hurt fighter, but couldn't.
There was some fights on Showtime last night. Jeff Lacy won in one of the most entertaining one-sided fights you'll ever see and J.L. Castillo pounded out the smaller Julio Diaz. Castillo was supposed to fight Diego Corrales last night but legal issues caused a delay. I think they're still going at it this year to find out who's the lightweight in the world. And wouldn't you believe it? There are actually PayPerView fights that are WORTH buying! PPV boxing in '05 is off to a great start. As mentioned above, there's Pac/Morales & Tito/Winky, plus the ESPN PPV show with an all-around competetive card: Antonio Margarito/Kermit Cintron Jameel McCline/Calvin Brock (Brock's undefeated) and what might be the most fun fight of the night Juan Diaz/Ebo Elder I still can't believe we have to wait 'til frickin June for Tzsyu/Hatton.

Got word that Morales struggled a bit to make the weight while Pac came in at perfect shape. This means Morales is gonna slower than usual. Bad news.
Pac's the big house favorite (By KO) but that's going to have to be seen to be believed since I've never seen Morales in danger of getting stopped...Yet.

Good fight tonight. Those early rounds were all trading blows. Both fighters put on a great show. Morales fought great, and deserved the decision.

People are saying it could be a candidate for fight of the year. I hope HBO replays it next week before the Vargas fight!

I re-watched the fight just moments after it ended. An intense, sizzling classic! After seeing how sluggish Morales looked in his last fight with Barerra, I assumed he would look the same for Pac-Man. Dead Wrong. Morales clearly did his homework and the footwork, handspeed, and defense that he showed at Jr Featherweight 5 years ago was back in full force! And Pac-Man aint got nothing to be ashamed of. He's as tough and determined as they come. You can definetly mention this one in the same breath with Barerra/Morales and Gatti/Ward. Also, The Flyweight bout (Arce/Hussein) that preceded the main event was a great appetizer.

Any word on if this is going to be in HD? HBO.com does not list it as being a HD feed, but the info given with dishnetwork says it will be. Maybe the replay will not be HD, and the live fight will be? Anyone know?
