Cardinals must win today to stay above .500 at home.

Both the Cardinals and the Twins saw their leads fall to one game apiece in their respective divisions.

It's possible (perhaps even probable) that the Cubs and White Sox are going to face each other this weekend with both teams in first place. This city is going to explode!

The Chicago/St Louis match is on national TV tonight in England, so I'll have the pleasure of seeing the Cubbies win.

Let's see if Derek Lowe can keep his 14 inning scoreless streak going tonight at Fenway. If he can keep this up, the Sox might have the best 1-2-3 in the AL in Pedro, Schilling, and Lowe.

He's actually pitched better away this year, unlike last year. But he has been extremely effective the last couple games. I hope he can keep it up. The Sox need a sweep because the Orioles arent going to do anything against the Yankees.

New Beltran rumor: The Astros

http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/ne..._mlb&fext=.jsp

Houston, Oakland and Kansas City reportedly have discussed a three-way trade that would send Royals center fielder Carlos Beltran to the Astros, Astros closer Octavio Dotel to the A's and a package of minor league talent to the Royals.

Well, I disagree with Biggio going back to 2nd and Kent going to 3rd. Moving Berkman to RF and Biggio to LF makes a little more sense.

Lidge is capable of closing as well as Dotel has, and Miceli, despite a few bumps, is a formidable set-up guy.

And Beltran wouldn't be going to NY. Do it, Gerry!

I've never been that high on Dotel....but her really can't be worse then what we got now. As long as it's Teahen and players not named Blanton, Swisher, Bynum going to KC...I'll be okay with it.

If I were Beane, I'd be asking for Lidge. He throws high 90's and has a pretty sick slider. And I had to wonder if Lidge wasn't out there in the ninth last night not to try closing, but to be showcased.

Holy crap. The guy reporting the story for MLB.com says that from what he's heard, the Astros/A's/KC deal may be done as early as tonight.

I guess we'll see if this guy is full of it shortly.

I'm being talked about in trade rumors too. So desperate for a closer are the Athletics, that they offered to trade two bags of sunflower seeds (1 bag of Ranch-flavored, 1 bag of barbecue-flavored) to my softball team in exchange for my services as a closer.

I couldn't be worse than Arthur Rhodes I guess.

The closer situation in Oakland is really killing my fantasy league team. I've got both Hudson and Mulder as starters.

Bako dropping the ball at home plate could have cost the game as well.

God, I love baseball. Local Newstalk radio says that Gerry Hunsicker has signed off on the deal, and that Beane is the final puzzle piece.

Either way it goes, this is fun stuff.
