DVDTalk Collective Bracket -- Round One
twikoff and juiio present...
A DVDTalk production... The second annual DVDTalk Collective Bracket How it works: We'll vote on each game round-by-round. For example, this thread will be for voting on the first-round games. The teams recieving the most votes will advance to the second round. The next thread will be for voting on the second round. In case of a tie, the higher seed will advance. For example: If voting in round one is Boston College 33 - Utah 12, Northern Iowa 23 - Georgia Tech 22, then for round two, we will vote on Boston College vs Northern Iowa. You do not have to vote on every thread to participate. Participate in as many threads as you can/want to. Here are the estimated times for the rounds First round: Now until 10:00 PM Eastern (7:00 Pacific) Second round: 10:00PM (7:00 Pacific) to 10:00 AM (7:00 AM Pacific) Wednesday Third Round: 10:00 AM (7:00 Pacific) Wednesday - 4:00 PM (1:00 Pacific) Wednesday Fourth Round: 4:00 PM (1:00 Pacific) Wednesday - 8:00 PM (5:00 Pacific) Wednesday Fifth Round: 8:00 PM (5:00 Pacific) - 1:00 AM Thursday (10:00 PM Wednesday Pacific) Sixth Round: 1:00 AM Thursday (10:00 PM Wednesday Pacific) - shortly before game time on Thursday. We need to finish before the tipoff of the first game on Thursday so that the picks can be entered in the Yahoo contest Don't be afraid to vote for upsets. We'd like to try to avoid ending up like this, where they only have two "upsets" in the first round and both of them are 9 over 8. only downside is that we have to concede the playin game.. but i dont think anyone would pick that winner against kentucky.. especially since no #16 has ever beaten a #1.

last year.. everyone used the collective bracket to make all the bold upset picks, that everyone was afraid to make in their own brackets

We've got a few upsets right now it looks like (with time for more votes to come in though). Manhattan over Florida, Western Michigan over Vandy, Dayton over DePaul, Charlotte over Texas Tech, Southern Illinois over Alabama.
There might be a few others, but I haven't gone through all the matchups yet. |

I'm open for suggestions for a better way to do a tiebreaker than a coin flip. If we had more time, we could do another poll, but I don't think we do. Another option would be to give the edge to the higher seed.
