Maybe the Nets should give back Richard Jefferson to the Rockets to be nice

A KMart vs Eddie Griffin locker room fight would be interesting to see.

Yeah, that trade was already one of the more lopsided ones in recent memory. It'll be even funnier if Griffin gets his act together for the Nets.

But I don't expect that to happen.

In a similar note, I hear the Knicks are looking at Leon Smith.

HOUSTON (AP) -- Former Houston Rockets forward Eddie Griffin was convicted Tuesday of marijuana possession.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_yl...v=ap&type=lgns

Harris County Criminal Court-at-Law Judge Larry Standley said he would sentence Griffin on Feb. 13. Standley convicted Griffin of the misdemeanor after a daylong bench trial.

Griffin, who signed with the New Jersey Nets following his release from the Rockets, also is scheduled next month to answer a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon based on an alleged fight with a woman in October.

Griffin was arrested in April on the marijuana charge.

He was suspended from the Rockets in October for a series of missed practices and a skipped flight to Sacramento, Calif. Later that month, a woman accused him of hitting her three times in the face and shooting at her as she drove away from his Houston home before dawn on Oct. 25.

Griffin, a 6-foot-10, 232-pound forward, averaged 8.7 points, 5.8 reboundsand 1.63 blocks in 150 career games over two seasons with the Rockets.

What?!? No stats on his weapons ability or his dope intake? Since when is his ability to play b-ball the only thing that mattered?

Nets waive F Eddie Griffin

February 27, 2004
EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) - Eddie Griffin will not be resuming his NBA career with the New Jersey Nets after the troubled forward was waived Friday.

Griffin originally signed with the Nets on January 8 after being released by the Houston Rockets for problems off the court.

The 6-10, 232-pound Griffin was released from voluntary substance abuse and depression therapy in early December.

Griffin was found guilty of marijuana possession on January 20 after being arrested in April. He was cited for violating probation and also is facing two counts of aggravated assault stemming from an October 25 incident in which he allegedly punched a woman and fired gunshots at her.

Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy suspended Griffin in the preseason for missing a practice and skipping a team flight. Griffin was released by the Rockets on December 19.

The 21-year-old Griffin was selected by New Jersey seventh overall in the 2001 draft and was dealt to Houston for three first-round picks.

A Philadelphia native who entered the draft after playing one season at Seton Hall, Griffin averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 77 games in 2002-03.

Why did the Nets even bother?
