Most amusing part of last night's episode was that the LA Rams would actually hire Charles Green to be their GM. They actually mentioned the real GM "Les" saying he left.
So looks like its mostly the same show, but with a minor reset in Los Angeles now. I wonder if this show will get some extra eyes now that JD Washington has a big movie in theaters simultaneously as this is airing. I mean this show isn't some heavily serialized piece. A new viewer could jump in now.

Of all the nonsense this show has produced in 3+ seasons, Charles Green becoming the GM of anything is probably the most ludicrous plot-line ever. I loathe this show, yet I watch.

This show just flat out sucks, which is really too bad. It has all the worst parts of Entourage without the couple of good characters to carry it. It is a juvenile imagining of how people in this walk of life behave, where everyone talks and acts like a complete douchebag. Either the people making the show have literally no knowledge about the subject matter, or they think their audience are idiots under the age of 13.
How is any of this supposed to be funny or entertaining in any way? Russell Brand fit right in this episode and that's all you need to know about that.

I don't hate the show, but regardless of whatever conflict is presented - it still doesn't feel like much is happening... and yet I still watch mainly because it's just there and kills 30 minutes.
Agreed about the absurdity of Charles becoming the GM. Not sure how that would happen with what little front-office experience he has. They're trying too hard to keep the character around - why don't thy just make him work at Spencer's company doing something?
The agent continues to be a pointless character. You know he's useless when I can't even remember his name.
Does Spencer have any other clients? We keep seeing the same clients/friends, but we rarely ever see any other clients.
So I guess the writers gave Spencer a dead older brother this season.

The dead brother plotline is ridiculous. His brother was a USC QB who killed himself, and his coworker and best friend never knew about it? Come on.

After the episode is over, I don't think I could tell you what the overall plot of the episode was.

Re: Ballers (HBO) -- Season 4 Thread -- premieres 8/12/18
I keep forgetting that Spencer and Joe are financial managers and not agents.
It's like the show tried to distance itself from Entourage by setting it in Florida instead of California, dealing with athletes instead of TV/movies stars and centering around a financial manager instead of an agent.
Yet Spencer and Joe seem to be doing the work of agents and we really don't hear much about the financial management side of dealing with the talent... and now they move to California.
The show just isn't fun, dramatic or all that interesting. It's the bland vanilla ice cream you eat just because it's ice cream. I'm eating it while grunting "meh".

If it was more than 30 minutes, I wouldn't watch it... and I certainly don't look forward to it like I looked forward to Entourage.

I like this season so far. It's been long enough without Brand being in everything for me to enjoy his shtick again. Although, now I really want to watch Get Him to the Greek again.

The Rock is an extremely talented, intelligent, and charismatic guy. I refuse to believe he does not know this show is an obnoxious pile of excrement. I mean, he has to know, right? So that begs the question, why does he do it? Does he get to keep the suits?
Rob Corddry has been around talented people and written for and starred in some very funny shows. So what the hell explains this?
I get that everyone else involved in the show is just grateful for a paycheck, and those doing cameos are clueless. But those two guys...there is just no explaining it.
I will say that the CGI fighter jets in the beginning of tonight's episode were the funniest things on the show in probably 3 years.

I bailed during last week's episode. Just not worth it.

I think I'll be doing the same. I'm watching out of sheer boredom for something to watch on Sunday evenings outside of the football game - but then I wind up being bored WHILE watching the show. It's just a bunch of nothing.

Re: Ballers (HBO) -- Season 4 Thread -- premieres 8/12/18
It boils down to this:
The Rock: “I hear you brother, but just hear me out brother, I can get you the deal brother, but I just need more time, can you sit tight brother?”
Joe: “Fuck yeah, motherfuckers. Gee Spencer, you sure have a lot of demons. Can we talk this over at the bar? Fuck yeah this is good.”

That's funny, but if they really called it would be to have you explain the intricate plot points you laid out.
