So has anyone found out if there is any type of story mode? Either single player or with multiplayer? If it's just quest after random quest for loot, that's going to get old really fast.

There's not. It's a "you make your own adventure!" sort of deal.

Good thing I downloaded this in game pass and not purchased. I'll grab a mic/headset and give it a try this weekend

Is there any content to make people want to keep grinding? Special boats, islands...etc? Or does it appear to just be never-ending quests of the same type?

As far as I understand, just picking up cosmetic items for your character or ship.

Had so many thoughts about how this could be the Microsoft version of No Man's Sky except in NMK I was longing to see another player and in SoT I'm scared to death another player is going to rob me so I bolt.
Such a potential for future content but they HAD to know that what they gave us at launch wasn't going to be enough. Sailing alone makes you realize the game lacks content. If I was working with others I'd have less time to spend dreaming of content that should of been there from the start.

I agree. It's an amazing concept piece; banding together with friends to helm a ship and sail the seas. From what I can tell, they produced it well; I haven't heard of any crazy bugs or things they promised which aren't in the game (a la NMS). But they need to figure out what they want it to be and add more content to make it more of full game and less of a proof of concept.

Apparently after the 1st day everyone grew tired of being decent humans because when I got home from work a few hours ago I ran into countless random dickheads. Finally was able to play with a few people and it really helped make the game more enjoyable until everyone refused to go to an Outpost and cash it. We were attacked and lost an insane amount of treasure. Oh well.

I had a really good experience last night and it was fun to play. This will be so hit and miss with good people like any other online game

Re: Sea of Thieves (Xbox, PC) 3/20/18

Had a good time with this on my first go at it. First 2 tries were meh because no one seemed to want to talk, but the 3rd time was the charm as I found a boat I stuck with for close to 4 hours. We teamed with 2 other boats for a group of 10 of us took on a skull fortress and split the booty. I can definitely see this get stale though without more content to it. But what we did last night is one of the things that I could see the developers were aiming for.

My buddy messaged me this morning. He's like thanks for saving me $60. I gave him a 7 or 14 day free trial that came with my Xbox One X. He was geeked for this game. He's played two days and is done with it. Pretty much all my main complaints, but mostly the repetitive aspects of it.

It kinda sucks that they didn't really add anything after the beta. Oh well, maybe there will be some more content down the line.

I'm enjoying it but realize that I'll probably only play for a few weeks so once my 14-day pass is up I'll just burn some Microsoft Rewards points for another month of Game Pass and that should take care of it unless they actually start to flesh out the game. No way is this an A-list, full price title.

I am honestly shocked at how long this was in development for what we got.

Lovely, they finally have a patch to install, but I do the update and now the game is not on Gamepass.

Yes it is.

Let me clarify it was on Game Pass but stating I then had to purchase it, so in essence it is not on Game Pass really otherwise it should just be able to install. I cannot click on the link you provided as I am at work, but can I assume it might show it on Game Pass but that it is only for purchase? Thx Decker

Re: Sea of Thieves (Xbox, PC) 3/20/18

The link was just the official page on Xbox.com listing the game for purchase and as I quoted, showing that rather than buying it you can play it with Game Pass. Sounds like it's a temporary glitch.

Achievements are starting to pop up now, it is very random though. Getting ones that I definitely did not do at the moment they popped up but earlier in the week, but for sure I did other things. I was thinking it was going to be I logged in when they finally fix it, and they would just start popping up at the very start.

Tried this out on Gamepass last night, which saved me $60

It looked nice, but unless youre playing with friends, everyone was an asshole and no fun.

It started off as a fun online game where most people were welcoming but quickly devolved into a crap-fest. I still play it but only with friends and family. It's a blast when we play with three of us all in the same room on various Xboxes and PCs and all using the same Game Pass copy of the game.

Season ten is gonna have "Safer Seas" mode. Allowing to solo and be in passive mode. Why did they wait so long to include this? I would've played the crap out of this had it come out when the game launched. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way

I was interested in this since the other pirate game was announced but this doesn't have single player offline (you can play multiplayer solo but it's not the same). Well saves me a download lol

Yeah it's kind of an overwhelming game to go play if you don't have online friends to play with. It was a quick delete for me.
