Finally got my preorder Figpin yesterday. It's pretty nice.

Got 100% on the DLC. Didn't take long at all, under 3 hours. It was alright, but I really hope the next two are better. I would compare it to a longer side mission. I do like how they added more suits, but would have also liked if they added new abilities and gadgets. It would also have been nice if they added more bases so you could get more tokens since that's a pain in the ass in the main game. I think I still have two suits locked because of that.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

I must be doing something wrong because I keep failing that museum mission at the beginning of the DLC. Every time I fight some thugs someone takes that red sculpture and makes it out of the building. That doesn't seem like an event that Spider-Man couldn't overcome but it causes a mission failure. Very frustrating.

The only thugs you need to worry about are the ones that they highlight that are stealing the valuables. The second you see the symbol showing one of those thugs stealing something stop what you're doing and go knock them out before they reach the door. I failed twice before I really figured out what was going on but after that it's a pretty easy mission.

I hate chasing The Shocker... I’d rather save the fishes. 😉

No problem with the Shocker chases for me - my problem is that I can't seem to even come close to catching a single pigeon, much less fucking twelve. First time I've rage-quit a portion of a game in a long time.

I had zero issues with the pigeon quest. I caught all of them in less than 10 minutes. You can catch them without even being that close. I really liked the little story moments in that quest also.

I don't even know what I'm supposed to do - I even get right next to a pigeon, but there's nothing for me to do - no button prompts, nothing, I just keep swinging and they keep getting away.

It gives me an L1+R1 prompt whenever I get fairly close once the chase is underway. (It won't let you do it at the very start.)

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

It took me a minute or two to realize how to get the barrels out of the water. Clumsy mechanics... and if only they took a page from other games and let there be a button to “swim.”

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

A couple tips for the pigeons: first, is that as you level up your swing speed increases which makes any of the "chase" challenges significantly easier. Second, they follow the same pattern each time, so you can learn it and then "intercept" them when they go around buildings.

As for the "swim" button I think that was left off deliberately to encourage the player to learn to swing in those areas. It also makes it difficult to get to the out of bounds areas (like the Statue of Liberty). In the release build there was an exploit where you could "roll" over the surface of the water to get around, but that has been fixed.

Is this the regular pigeon chasing or is there another set of pigeon missions later on?

If it's the regular one, like Groucho said leveling up upgrades your attributes, and I've also found unlocking some of the web travel upgrades (like the one that lets you zip twice or time a large leap) help a lot.

And then you get to Taskmaster... screw him.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

I actually thought the pigeons were the easiest challenge - I'd just get above them and drop and hammer L1-R1 and I'd grab them even when the camera didn't have them in view anymore.

Finally beat the game last night after finishing up the last few things on the map. I haven't 100% a game in a long time but this one was more than worth it. A great ending too - something most games fail to deliver.

Easily GOTY for me.

The storyline in the DLC is good too (so far). I was particularly impressed with the portrayal of Black Cat, which I thought was spot-on.

I definitely want to give it a try. I did the New Game+ and RIPPED through the Fisk stuff at the beginning with a fully-upgraded move list and most gadgets maxed.

The only thing I suck at is the challenges. I barely got silver on most of them. Thankfully you don't have to get gold on all of them to get 100%.

Has anyone got stuck on the demon mission where you take down the helicopter? It tells me to press L but the tail continues to hit the people every time. I hate it when you can't progress because of these unexpected quick time events.

I couldn't remember the controls in that part so I just watched a YouTube video showing that scene. You don't want to press "L", you want to drag it into the big circle, at which point you'll be prompted to hit R1.

Thanks Groucho. The sequence went so fast that I didn't see the R1 prompt. It worked first attempt.

Turf Wars is out now. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I did install it this morning. Apparently it's significantly tougher than The Heist as well as much darker in tone/execution.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

How will the sequel for this work? They can't put out a new full-priced game with the same exact city/world, right? Unless they do something drastic like, "Spider-Man in Chicago!", they have to keep the sequels in Manhattan, and charging full price for the same city is kind of a gyp. I think going forward, the best thing they can do is add expansion packs for the existing city.

I think the sequel will incorporate the Spider-Verse and more Miles Morales as Spider-Man, so we'll probably see other versions of Manhattan

There's still plenty more of the city they could include (Queens, Brooklyn, the Statue of Liberty, etc.). Even if the map didn't change all that much, Insomniac could pack it with more stuff to do. I'd take a decently sized map with a ton of variety and things to do vs. an enormous map with a weaker density of activities/interaction.
