Quick question for those finding it at Target... is it actually in the case or behind the counter and you ask for it?

It was locked in the display case at the store I was at. Along with the Switch and a bunch of 2DS XLs.

One Target had it in the case with other consoles and the other (one of the smaller Targets) had it on the shelf with the spider wires. I usually ask when I go by the Electronics Dept.

Happened to be having lunch next to a gamestop. Walked in and asked if they had any. They had 6 and told me they had been getting about 20-30 a week pretty consistently. My friend is now happy he has one!

I was annoyed and disgusted at not getting a classic last year, I didn't try at launch for this, so I just asked my wife for this for my birthday two weeks ago. Figuring if it was meant to be, it was meant to be, I usually don't give her a chance at getting me any kind of gadget or gizmo or game system for a gift as I usually purchase it before she can get the chance. But I figured I'd let her give it a shot as I didn't care for last years dibacle.

Turns out she worked hard at finding this and wound up getting the red card target online sale a few weeks ago. Was a great birthday surprise.

I am enjoying the heck out of this thing.

I had to go to BB this morning for something unrelated. Saw big line for them and figured no chance. Ran another errand nearby to let crowd die down. Got there about 915, and to my amazement, they still had a bunch left. Got one for my wife. Big props to the 2 members here who offered me one recently. Extremely gracious people we have here.

I saw a fuckton of these at BB last week. They're all gone now, but still, just shows that Nintendo is finally meeting demand on this thing.

I saw like 6 of them sitting in the case at Target last week, which was a first for me. I'm sure they're gone now, but like you said, just the fact that they're making it to shelve shows there's more than there was last year.

Re: The inevitable SNES Classic is coming (inc. Starfox 2!; 21 games, 9/29/17, $80)

I was in my Target today and they had at least 30 or more. They were plentiful.

I do have a question about the Classic NES though. I bought the SNES version for someone and realized later that they wanted the NES one. I can't find the NES one anywhere and at a GameStop today, I asked about it and a seemingly knowledgeable manager stated that they are sold out everywhere and are not currently being produced due to Nintendo concentrating on the Switch and the SNES Classic.

She said that they were going to start back production on them sometime in 2018 (likely summer, she said) and they should be available once more.

Any truth to any of that?

No one knows, and whoever told you that doesn't know either.

Also, the games on the SNES mini are exponentially better than ones on the NES mini - if given a choice, I can't fathom anyone choosing the NES mini over the SNES.

I was out with my son and his friend last night, and we saw them in-stock at a couple of Targets. So, they're definitely trying to keep up with demand.

If they do decide to start producing the NES Classic again, I'd probably get one. There were enough games that I loved as a kid on it to make me have an interest.

Nintendo's official page for the NES Classic claims that it will return in Summer 2018.

Maybe it was already covered in this thread but has anyone bought those knockoff NES units at Ebay from China?

If this is a clone the box looks exactly like the original and the seller must have big balls to post all of these photos with no fear if the listing will be removed.

It was discussed in the NES Classic Thread over the summer, although from what I can tell the posts have disappeared. Here's an article about them:
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/...nintendo-wont/

It's a Chinese seller shipping from China. Nintendo has little they can do but have eBay remove the listing and ban the seller, at which point the seller just creates a new account and a new listing. It's like a game of whack-a-mole. eBay itself can't be touched, as they'll take down a listing if a company submits the proper legal forms, but can't be held liable to any new listings that are potentially infringing.
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...-infringement/

The only reason why there's market for the bootleg NES Classics is because Nintendo stopped making them. I can't find any eBay listings for obvious bootleg SNES Classics, because Nintendo is actually producing enough of them.

Christmas is now over. Did we see any store sell these? Or were they never available during Christmas?

Amazon.com doesn't have it and Target's website doesn't show any in my area within 100 miles selling it. However, I heard from somewhere Target won't list inventory or sell it on their website anymore.

I see some of you have found it just by chance. But, this is still not widely available and keeps selling out.

I'm not going to go out of my way and get up at 6-7am to show up at Target or Best Buy and hope to get one based on a shipment of 20 or 30. It just seems like the demand for this is still outweighing the stock that does come in.

eBay auctions have dropped in price, they were going for upwards of 200 but around Christmas they starting selling at 100.00 or 110.00 same on Amazon. The resellers killed this product as they did with the NES. Not sure how Nintendo will handle the restock in the summer, but I remain hopeful.

There were a couple of occasions after Thanksgiving at different Best Buy locations where I saw plenty of stock behind the counter, but that's been the exception.

I picked one up during Christmas time through Amazon Prime Now. I've never hacked anything in my life and it took me all of two minutes to do with an online guide last night. I only added Super Mario All-stars so far because I was just testing it out but so far so good.

I saw some in the shelf at Target just before Christmas. One guy wanted to buy all of them but was told one per person, so I saw him on the phone probably trying to get someone over to help him. One lady was asking about whether you could add games, and the Target employee was trying to explain that they could be modded easily.

This is a big part of the problem. The scalpers are still buying up a lot of the stock, to try and sell on eBay. However, the eBay markup isn't that high.

Nintendo can keep pumping these out until the retail demand dies down. At that point, the scalpers may have to cut prices to under retail just to sell off their stock.

I've seen these things at least a dozen times in stores over the past month or so.

Yeah, I saw tower of them in the cage behind the front counter at BB about 3 weeks before Christmas.
