Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule

Max 3 GC on a single online order.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order

No, don't think it's stopping people from watching movies, but I do think it's having an effect on the amount of discussion in the forum.

Poltergeist II: The Other Side - And it is exactly "the other side" of the original. It may have the same cast but it appears every one of them is there for the paycheck. The story is terrible and unnecessary. The only real standouts is the creepy as fuck preacher and the tequila worm scene. If you have seen the movie, then you know exactly what I am talking about regarding the tequila worn. That at least bumped it up half a star. But the rest of the movie is just too damn hokey.

John Carpenter's The Ward - Did you know that in the mid-60's all female mental ward where filled with ridiculously hot teenage girls? I didn't either but now I know where I am going if I ever get a time traveling Delorean. Paint by numbers horror flick. Not really worth watching since there are so many better similar films out there. And none of the hot girls get naked. A long shower scene with every one of them in it and not one boob or even a butt to be seen. Where are you 80's? I miss you!

I think it was also linked from Dailymotion in the first thread.

I loved it. I think Severin is releasing it or has. It has my favorite creepy kid of the challenge. I've never seen a knife throwing zombie before.

88 films released a great blu ray that includes a grindhouse version from the original 35mm negative

That's an amazing film. The blonde girl passed away some years ago. One of my personal favorite dark cult movies.

Paranoiac, a case study of 'the grass isn't always greener on the other side.' Another good performance by Oliver Reed. That poor Jag...

For today's theme movie, I watched an old favorite, Gremlins. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Gremlins, because it was the very first movie my parents took me to see as a kid at our local drive in, which I have fond memories of, even though it is no longer there.

I have trouble believing it impacts either. But that's because I pretty much ignore everything, other than who's running, until a week or so before voting.

I just look at it like your average person may find it easier to be distracted by the news/coverage than sitting at a computer and forming thoughts and words. I've been really lazy with my list this year. I'm just enjoying watching movies, but I have to take time out to get to my desktop and update the thing. I guess that only impacts people like 35 years and up. The youngins I'm sure have some fancy way for Alexa or whatever portable device thing to update and post without them having to move an inch.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

I watched the Evil Dead remake/reimagining/reboot last night. I should have left it on the store shelf - but at least it was only $4. I wouldn't say it was "bad" exactly, but it just wasn't that good. The story, what little there was, lacked anything that might make you want to care about the people on screen. Much of it felt disjointed, as if they were shoehorning into another film those "money shots" critical to it being a "Evil Dead" film. I felt it was nothing but a series of set pieces which mostly didn't work or came off funny rather than scary. Unlike the original there was nothing there that makes me want to revisit the film. It *did* make me want to watch the first two again but I'm sticking to my "only from the unopened pile" mantra this time out...

I use my phone to update, and I am in the 35 and up category. I just find it more convenient.

Debates, coverage, Colbert... it's definitely taken a chunk out of my viewing time.

I can't think how it would.

Only thing it did for me was take away some movie watching time, since I watched the 3 debates. I'm also in the 35 and older group. Yes, us old people do use the internet, after our grandkids showed us how to use the mouse. You don't actually hold the mouse to the screen when you're trying to click something on the screen.

This is basically the year where I've grown to hate both sides of the media. I used to like Colbert, Daily Show, all that left leaning stuff while always being annoyed by the right wing stuff. Now I feel the same about right wing stuff but holy shit has the smugness on the left really turned me off.

The Cubs and the election have definitely taken a lot of my time. I'm still hoping to hit a personal best and picked off three films today: Eden Lake (with a young Fassbender, but meh), Sorority Row (MEH), and The Cabin in the Woods, because I just wanted to watch something that I knew was good. I might have to check other people's checks for T&A because the nudity has been severely lacking in most of my selections thus far. Don't they make films like the Friday the 13th remake anymore?
David shoot me your address when you get a chance. The pack won't make it to you in time for Halloween sadly, but I'll get it there ASAP!

So far as T&A and F13 type "remakes"....why not try Hatchet? (Or Hatchet 2? Or Hatchet 3?) I think there's a some T&A in them, and I find them really fun movies. Good luck with your Cubs btw!

And so far as my own experience so far this year, I'm unsure if I will even hit one movie a day, but I'm going to try. HOWEVER, I still maintain that Rob Zombie's Halloween movies are DAMN GOOD, and I made sure to fit both in this month.

Amazon Video has some Disney Halloween movies for sale, titles like Halloween Town (2004), Under Wraps (1997), Don't Look Under The Bed (1999), The Scream Team (2002), etc...

They're $2.99 (SD) a pop. That's cheaper than what they rent for. I picked up Under Wraps, Don't Look Under The Bed, The Scream Team, and am flip-flopping over Halloween Town.

You need to talk with Lrend. She *loves* them (see her avatar). Based on her high praise of his works a couple of years ago, I borrowed her copies of the two Halloween films, House of 1000 Corpses, and The Devil's Rejects. I watched Halloween, House of 1000 Corpses, and The Devil's Rejects, absolutely hated them, and returned them without bothering with Halloween II. I hope to never watch one of his films again. To this day she'll recommend something and I'll occasionally throw out a "Well... you *did* recommend Rob Zombie's films..."

Address sent, thanks! I should be well-stocked for next October and the B-movie challenge besides!

Thanks for the tip on Hatchet, which I'm not familiar with. I'll try it!

And I'm cautiously optimistic about the Cubs, but all my years of following them have been a unique kind of horror challenge, so we'll see.

Everywhere there are 50s-60s setting prequel films...

Surprisingly only Ouija 2 is left in theaters the week before Halloween. Ouija (2): Origin of Evil is a surprisingly serviceable movie to come from such a subpar first film; it's not great but it's an above average as far as PG13 Blumhouse / Platinum Dunes modern horror films go.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Finally got around to seeing The Green Inferno and it wasn't as terrible as I'd imagined. It was interesting seeing a slick and polished cannibal film with a bigger budget. Granted, I have no desire to ever revisit it, and it made me want to revisit Cannibal Holocaust (that and the Riz Ortolani riff in Baskin) all the more. I temporarily mistook the terrible lead actress for Cecily Strong from SNL up until realizing it was Eli Roth's wife from Knock Knock, which explained everything.

It was underwhelming to say the least. Replacing Bruce Campell with what looked like a 14-year-old girl just didn't cut it, and that tacked on two second "groovy" cameo was just plain pointless.

That said, I am actually curious to watch (rental) the upcoming extended director's cut, if only for the sake of comparison.

I did write about how Halloween was pretty good as it had a star studded horror cast, an interesting story, but I can see why people piss on it because it isn't the original. Had Zombie called it anything else, I think more people would have enjoyed it. Halloween 2 the DIRECTOR'S CUT is a far better film than the shit that was in theaters. Zombie has always been criticized for not developing characters and in this one, he finally delivers. However, the white horse, Laurie seeing her real mother/younger brother, and Michael being unmasked and talks are complete crap. But there is some charm to it. Why didn't you like House and Rejects?

I am also curious, having watched the original Halloween and Halloween 2 WHY do people rave and love it so much? I do think Jamie Lee isn't that great in it either. Long gone are the days of Vincent Price who basically made any film damn entertaining and must watch. Is it just an era thing that people still consider Halloween one of the greatest horror films ever made?

Agreed. I had asked a couple of questions to my Hillary loving friends on Facebook and some either deleted me or deleted my comment. Same with some Trump supporters. They refuse to see both sides of the coin =/
