I've always loved Balin's soulful and soaring vocals on "Runaway." It elevates an average (if rather catchy) pop song into greatness.

An attractive ballad from the unfairly-ridiculed Dan Hill, "Carmelia" was fairly omnipresent on the radio up here about 30 years ago.

It appears no one wants to participate anymore. Pity. Anyway, here's one of my favourite songs, "Diamond Sun" by Glass Tiger. It's one of the great anthems, in my view.

Needing some smooth, I went to this. I like to imagine Phil Manzanera providing what he thinks is a stingy and petulant outro guitar solo in studio, not realizing it's one of the best understated solos of all time ...
