I like the Snapshot mode, smart way of getting people to try out some of their more obscure, older titles and it reminds me a lot of Nick Arcade

I'd never played Snake Rattle n Roll before... Does it use the Marble Madness engine or something?

These old games are rough. Weird getting used to the isometric view ones.

Loved diving into this yesterday, and it's going to get a lot of play with my kids. The only real shame is that it's local MP only for Conker, but it's hard to complain at the price.

Honestly I'm having more fun with the retro game challenges than anything, I hope more companies do that and I hope Rare adds a few new challenges as time goes on.

I also hope they eventually put out a sequel to Blast Corps.

Will have to wait and see what happens, but as of this morning my pre-order from July 11 still said in processing. So I started a chat and they had to put in a whole new order. Says I will still get the 15,000 point but also for my troubles he gave me a $10 code as well. Will probably now get Gears Ultimate Edition using the code. This better get to me before the weekend is all I have to say.

For those that bought the disc, how big was the download after the disc installed? Can you do it on a per-game basis, or does it have to be one big chunk? My understanding is that only the 360 backwards-compatible titles have to be downloaded, but I'm not certain.

it's surprising they included Conker in this collection. Since it's the only M rated game GameStop and other stores have to restrict sales to minors?

When I stuck the disc in it set up 9 separate installations. You can prioritize Rare Replay proper and play that while the others download.

I like that RC Pro-Am II still has Tradewest all over the track.

Also, RC Pro-Am is better than the sequel in every possible way.

Thanks. I'm near my monthly bandwidth limit, so I just don't want to blow past it by accident.

Re: Rare Replay Thread of How Retro Collections should work

Actually, those 360 games might be on the disc as separate installs which then simply pull down small updates from the web. I wasn't watching the screen when those installed. I had the whole package ready to go in less than an hour, which leads me to believe that those 360 games might not have actually downloaded.

Re: Rare Replay Thread of How Retro Collections should work

Hmm. I did a little digging. Found this on store.xbox.com:
"After purchase, the Xbox 360 titles within Rare Replay will also be added to your download queue. Installation space for all titles will require a further 38Gb. If you cancel the installation of a title, you can reinstall at any time by locating the title in the "Ready to Install" section of My Games & app or within the Xbox Store."
Based on that, it sounds like installing the disc triggers the download of the Xbox 360 games while the rest are installed from the disc. I'm fine with waiting on the Xbox 360 titles until my bandwidth usage goes back to 0, if that is indeed the case.

Yup, they titles will download automatically and fill up your drive. I picked up a 2tb drive yesterday, as I was down to 20G

I'm sure it isn't a huge item with the under 17 crowd.

Not sure if I have everyone here already on my friends list, but I'd love to get more of you so we can compare Leaderboards and things with those Snapshots and challenges

Re: Rare Replay Thread of How Retro Collections should work

I guess they patched in the new controls for Jet Force Gemini? I saw mention of it when I launched the game last night.

Re: Rare Replay Thread of How Retro Collections should work

I've definitely experienced a few glitches here and there so far, Rare Replay itself has crashed a couple times on me (Once randomly, once during the Snapshot Collection "Escape Plan" or whatever it's called). The first time I tried to boot Kameo I got a big "YOUR DISC MAY BE DAMAGED OR DIRTY" prompt that wouldn't go away. JetPac Refueled also didn't load the first 10 times I tried

It auto-saves everything (except the number of lives you have, that resets to 3 every time you quit and restart for some reason).

Put some time into this last night and I'm really impressed by the interface as well as the things they implemented to liven up the old releases, like snapshots and milestones. Got all of the snapshots in Jetpac done.

Minors make up probably 90% of M rated sales so I doubt that's anything videogame companies are concerned with.

Almost done with the Jetpac milestones. No idea why I felt like I needed to do them all, but there it is.

Also - Viva Pinata really sucked me back in last night.

Re: Rare Replay Thread of How Retro Collections should work

I have a nasty bug. The game will not launch! I get through the opening just fine but when it prompts you to press A, I press it and nothing happens. I closed the app and restarted five times and it still refuses to start. THe 360 games still launch though from the xbox one dash.

Do a hard reset of your XB1 by holding in the power button on the front of the console for 5 seconds.

Re: Rare Replay Thread of How Retro Collections should work

I like that if you purchased any of the X360 titles back in the day, it auto completes all the challenges; Perfect Dark was 100%-ed for me already; I also believe this is the first wide unveiling of the 360 emulation on XB1. So far, so good.

No, Perfect Dark and Perfect Dark Zero are M rated.
