I've never been great at Driving and Shooting. At least this has an easy-to-use ramming mechanic.

I have been playing the game a bit and it is a lot of fun. Very similar to a cross between GTA and Shadows of Mordor. I thought the isolation may have been a negative in the game, but instead it really adds to the atmosphere. The fighting is fun, driving is fun and I am devoting my time me to it. MGS after.

Re: Mad Max
I completed the story yesterday and I'm not sure what to think of the ending - it was kind of depressing lol. I really enjoyed the game overall though and loved exploring the wastelands. Even the side quests were fun for once!

Played a bit more last night and i am really digging it. Taking on convoys is fun and assaulting camps is great. It is very similar in feel to Shadows of Mordor (when is a sequel to that game coming out?), and thats only a good thing. That game is still better as there were times when the sheer number of combatants to fight against was huge and it would be so much fun.

Finished...took about 30 hours. It got a little bit repetitive towards the end, and seemed to lose a little steam, but overall a fantastic fun game.

About halfway through right now. Just not feeling this one as much as I thought I would. For those that finished.....is there more variety in the mission structure in the second half?

honestly, if you are not feeling it halfway in, I say stop. I can't think of anything in the second half that will change your mind.

It really is more of the same collection carnage from the first half to the second half. I like the game but it does get repetitive. Especially, when there are like 190 loot sites that I have to visit and complete 100%, a ton of races to do, cars to collect and other things to finish.

I've been digging the game so far, but one of those "Death Races" is one of the worst things I've seen in a game. You have two minutes to get to the finish line and you're up against an unlimited amount of other "racers" whose only goal is stopping you. They're all considerably faster than you and come from every direction to stop in front of you, ram into you, etc. At the beginning, the racers to your left and right typically shoot forward and collide in front of you, immediately boxing you in. The race was so infuriating that when I completed it successfully, I chased down and destroyed three of the racers who were still on the map.

I can see how some people would get bored with the repition of the game, but the driving and fight mechanics make it fun to do time and again.....well for me anyway. I have cleared a hell of a lot and opened up the second section, but only doing missions sporadically to give the game more life. My car is now pretty great and taking on convoys is a lot of fun. For example last night i took on a convoy on one of the routes and driving head on into it caused 4 of the 6 guard cars to collide and get completely destroyed. Finishing the other 3 vehicles was no problem, especially with the explosive spears. And talking of the explosive spears, i found out that when you are in a base and you pick one up you can throw one at a combatant when they are right next to you. The result is that the spear sticks in them, your character kicks them away and they then blow up. Very cool way of killing someone and nice way to disrupt a crowd.

Re: Mad Max
My 1000gs run took 91 hours, but you could probably shave 5 or 6 hours off that because I wanted to get Legendary time on each Death Race on each vehicle just for my own satisfaction. There's no achievement or in-game reward for this.
And yes, they're a nightmare for the most part. But my vehicle collection screen has both of those Golden medals illuminated under each vehicle, that's for same sure.

Re: Mad Max
That said, with open-world games I usually complete them to 100% even if it means obsessively spending hours. This past Labor Day weekend was 3 days of almost non-stop Mad Max. I definitely don't have it in me to do that regularly though. I just snagged Witcher III on sale at Amazon and the idea of playing it so soon after Max is almost exhausting.

Hrm. Humor aside... is this what the game is pretty much? Play mechanics, I mean....
