Rise of the Tomb Raider (Xbox One now, PS4 on 10/11/16)
Reports seem to indicate we'll be seeing a tease for the next Tomb Raider game at the VGX awards in December, in addition to a "Definitive Edition" of the first game for PS4 and Xbox One.
Then there's this:
Tomb Raider Sequel is ‘Next chapter of Lara’s development

Personally, I'm stoked. I loved the reboot. It was the first Tomb Raider game I ever cared about.

I enjoyed the reboot. It wasn't the amazing game everyone claimed but with enough polish I'm sure the sequel can live up to the hype.

I've been a huge fan of the franchise since the original game and the reboot was really something special so I very much look forward to where they take the sequel. It should look ridiculous on next gen consoles.

Just talking about TR in the GOTY thread got me jazzed about playing it again. I might be down for the Definitive edition. However, TR2 will be a day 1 purchase.

Hopefully Lara gets a boob job between the previous installment and this one. There are some things too sacred to change!

I don't recall that at all. Maybe?
I just want them to drop the abysmal shooting galleries. They were actually more annoying than Uncharted because at least Uncharted didn't pretend to not be a third person shooter.
That and get a better writer and perhaps recast Lara. The VA in the reboot was sometimes servicable and other times one line reading away from belonging in a porno.

I bought the last LC:Tomb Raider or a whim and just to try something different...plus XBL was having one of those mega week sales. The game really surprised me all over...the visuals, gameplay and storyline. Actually it was Laura going from a simple explorer to a serious killing machine at the end. Be interesting where they'll take this one...last one really had a great story behind it.

It'll be a timed exclusive I'm sure. As much as I want Tomb Raider 2, I don't want it enough to add another console to my home setup.

timed or not, that's a pretty fucking huge exclusive to have for the holiday season.

Maybe not timed after all?
Still enough wiggle room in the wording to change things in the future, I suppose.
Dear Tomb Raider Community,
As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio.
Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.
This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.
We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we’ll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we’re going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.
Thanks,
Darrell Gallagher

I want it as well but would rather buy a second PS4 for the bedroom before I even think about getting a One. However, with a son on the way next month that kind of spending will likely be put on hold. Unless MS is paying a nice chunk of change for the exclusivity then this might be a mistake by Square Enix/Crystal Dynamics.

I'm interested to see what the playing field looks like when the game comes out, right now both consoles have relatively small audiences.

I'm disappointed that GAF is down this morning. The thread discussing this news there is going to be an epic saga. Blood will be shed and cities will burn.

Unbelievable . I have an xbone just for Titanfall and all the Halo stuff coming, but I would much rather play Tomb Raider 2 on PS4. Crazy that this sort 3rd party exclusive thing is still happening and I think it will just alienate some fans.

This seems to be Microsoft's new strategy for exclusivity : Why establish your own gaming studios that will employ hundreds which can churn out exclusive IPs for your brand (like Uncharted, inFamous, God of War, Gears of War or Halo) when instead you can just throw lots of money at another huge company like EA or Crystal Dynamics and just keep them from bringing their already-in-development games to other gaming platforms? Why create when you can extort instead?

Microsoft is listed as the Publisher for this now,

Ah well, much respect lost in one fell swoop.

Smart move by Microsoft, even if it's not the most customer-friendly move by Crystal Dynamics...especially given the number of new fans to the game due to its re-release on PS4.
