re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I have a launch PS4. No heat or spinning noise issues here.

My too is a launch release model and thankfully no issues....though I thought flickering was due to it, was the Lamp.

I haven't felt Hot but I get typical spinning sound where disc is loading but it's not loud. I do occasional unplug everything and take a can of Air and blow out the vents trying to get dust out...pretty much how you need to clean inside a PC Tower from time-to-time. I actually need to take mine apart and do a through inspection and do a deep clean especially the fan.

Mine is just a bit post-launch, but with a newer/bigger hard-drive, zero issues. Though I haven't played an actual disc in it in a long time - I've gone all digital for the last year.

It's an NBA 2k thing. I don't know what it is about that game, but sometimes (mainly in My Career mode) it will turn the PS4 into a jet engine and it does get pretty hot. I'm not sure why it happens because it seems to happen even just in menus sometimes which you wouldn't think would be something that would not be stressing the machine, but it certainly is.
It does happen with other games as well, but 2k is the one that I noticed it the most.

Yes, I have this happen in 2K as well, and I have a launch PS4. It doesn't help that because of the stupid VC, it is constantly reading and writing data to their servers.

My PS4 is about a year after launch, whenever they replaced the glossy part with all matte, but I recall the fan getting pretty loud with God of War. I don't think it ever got too hot though.

Was browsing Amazon today, and saw Spider Man for $39.99 for either disc or digital. Waffling about it, as I’m not sure if I need a new game right now.

Does the 14 day Playstation Plus trial with a new PS4 not include the free games?

Edit: Frustrating waste of time while setting up the new system as evidently the PS4 is listing November’s free games instead of the current ones.

Why would them providing people with two options cause you to be "out"? It's basically what they're doing now with the Pro and the X.

I'm not sure if there's a more in depth interview with that guy, but it seems more like guesswork and not insider information or anything.

I know and i'm not buying two again. I bought an X and a Pro after already having a XB1 and PS4. JMO, of course, but i'm not impressed with the upgrades. I could have been happy with my Original systems.

But according to the article they would be doing that at the start so you wouldn't need to buy 2.

Yeah, I don't understand the complaints about having two models. Personally, I love my One X. The performance/visual upgrades have been very noticeable. On the other hand, chose not to upgrade my PS4 and i've been fine with it. Choices are great.

^That looks really cool. Glad to see there's a PC version, too. Very tempting.

Out of 287 hours of gameplay, I played a grand total of 0 hours online... and yet I still pay for PSN.

Of course I downloaded 58 free games via Plus, so there's that.

47 games, 304 hours, 373 trophies. I have a feeling the total number of games played is a little off though.

Top 3 played games were Wildlands, Spider-Man, and God of War.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

8 games. One of them was my wife playing through Lego Harry Potter. I haven't spent a tremendous amount of time with my PS4 since the Xbox One X became my go-to console for third party titles, but I definitely put my time in on God of War and Spider-Man.
