That one went out of stock ridiculously fast.

Is the PS4 VR worth the price of admission. I keep looking at it in Best Buy and 449 for the setup and then to hug a game gets steep. We have battlefront already so we’d have to buy resident evil or st least something else out. How often do you use the motion controllers?

Updated PSVR headset coming. Includes integrated stereo headphone cables and an updated processor that allows HDR passthrough.

Seems like cable 5 is not used anymore and the cables are now slimmer.

Cool, wish I could upgrade my video coprocessor unit so I could do 4K PS4 on my TV while having the VR headset also plugged in.

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)
I’m thinking of jumping into this. I see two bundles have the new headset (headphones are different and box has HDR passthru). I do have a 4K tv but with no spec difference between the headsets will the one for 100.00 cheaper be just as good?
Thanks
Thanks

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim bundle has an MSRP that's $50 more than the Doom bundle, but Skyrim set comes with 2 move controllers, which the Doom set doesn't.

The move controllers are needed for some VR games, but not all, and are normally $100 separately.
B&H has the Skyrim Bundle for $334.89 right now, which is about $15 cheaper than anywhere else:

Yes. I’ve been researching the prices. Don’t really want Doom it Skyrim. Thought I would grab RE Bio which is why I was asking if the newer model is worth the price. I can get the GT bundle for 199 and RE for 24. Not a bad intro piece. Can grab move controllers used anywhere

The "core" specs didn't change between the V1 and V2 headsets, but aside from the HDR passthrough (which is a big thing for some), there's a few more smaller differences that impact usability.
The V2 headset moves the power and volume controls to the headset itself, along with the headphone jack being on the headset itself. It also gets rid of a junction box for the HDMI and uses a thinner, lighter HDMI cable to the headset, reducing the amount of "tug" the cable has on the headset.

You have a 4K TV, does it have HDR? If yes, keep in mind that switching between the V1 PSVR headset and HDR gaming/video watching on a PS4 can be quite a headache due to having to actually swap cables or introduce an HDMI switch into the equation.

The other major change to the PSVR v2 comes in the cable. Last year's model featured a thick, braided double HDMI cable, including an awkward plastic junction box about halfway down its length. This year's cable removes that junction box and cuts the cable thickness in half, reducing the weight of the cable and the amount of "tug" it exerts on the headset.
It's not a huge difference—a few ounces at most—but the lighter cable definitely exerts a bit less tug on the headset as you move around in VR space. And when you're talking about a piece of hardware you wear strapped to your head, every ounce of tug makes a difference.
Both the v1 and v2 cables are permanently attached to their respective PSVR headsets at one end, which means there's no way to get the new and improved cable without buying an entirely new headset...
The v2 model now offers a headphone jack and volume/microphone controls that are integrated into the headset itself, for instance, and moves the power and focus adjustment buttons to more natural positions.

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)
I went ahead and got the Doom bundle with the new headset. I have it all set up and played a few things. I’ll play Resident evil later tonight. I don’t get motion sickness but the mask feels heavy after a while.

I am very interested in Fallout $ VR, and looking at items on Amazon now.
Will be interested to hear opinions from anyone who has this. The game is fantastic and one of my favorites.

I'm bummed Battlefront 2 didn't yield an VR this time around. Piloting an X-wing was awesome stuff. I might check out Fallout but I've never played a game in that series.

So Fry's does have the Turismo VR bundle for $199, but not in stock at my store, so I'm out of luck. I was contemplating trying the new option to return the one I got at Amazon for $255 at Kohl's.

I just can't see playing 100+ hour games like Skyrim and Fallout while wearing a headset. I have an Oculus Rift and I don't spend more that 30-45 min on any given game during one setting.

I easily found the $199 at Gamestop yesterday, so I'll ship back the one I got at Amazon on Cyber Monday. What was Sony thinking dropping the bundle price $100 after just a couple weeks?

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)
I'm 99% sure that all of the GT Bundles have the old headset, but considering the cost savings, and the amount of time that I'll actually play around with it, I figure it's worth getting the older model.
The Skyrim bundle is probably the best deal otherwise since it comes with the Move Controllers which run $80 right now. Doom is only $30 separately.

Gotcha.
I wonder if the $200 VR +Camera (no game included) bundle Gamestop has is the old one as well. Their product descriptions aren't much help.

I believe the Skyrim and Doom bundles are the only ones with the new headsets. The stand alone versions won't be out until sometime next year.
