Returning a Columbia House title (unopened)

I remeber doing this before, by just writing refused on the packaging and dropping it back off at the post office. Does this work anymore?

I ask because I can't find any return address on the package. It just says "Hanover PA 17334 Forwarding Service Media Mail" on the cardboard.

The last time I tried this (about 5-6 weeks ago) the package was returned for postage. There should be a return label inside.

So you have to open it, get the label out and use it once you reseal?

Last time I returned a columbia house title (last year maybe), I just wrote return to sender on it, and it went back and it was credited to my account. My package was addressed exactly the same way as yours.

Yea just write return to sender on it and you should get credited. My regular delivery guy normally will do this for me if I'm home and I don't want the item

One thing I do is put an X through my address, I've actually had it re-delivered to me even though I put Return to Sender on it.

You should also black out any delivery bar code so the pkg is not accidently machine routed back to your address--do this returning junk mail, too.

If the box looks like it's been opened the PO is not supposed to process it as a refused return.

1.1.2 Refusal at Delivery
The addressee may refuse to accept a mailpiece when it is offered for delivery.

1.1.3 Refusal After Delivery
After delivery, an addressee may mark a mailpiece “Refused” and return it within a reasonable time, if the piece or any attachment is not opened.
I usually just put an X through the delivery address, write "Refused" next to it, and then drop it back in the mailbox or at the post office.

^Same here but I'll add "Return to Sender" under the "Refused" just in case.

Re: Returning a Columbia House title (unopened)

I'm not confused by any of that. There just didn't seem to be any ender information on the package. I thought Columbia House used to list a return address on their packages. Now they just have: Hanover PA 17334 Forwarding Service Media Mail". Hanover is a big place. How does the Post Office know where to return it?

^They probably get lots of those and know what they look like.
