Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

Anyone with a region hackable Insignia player having trouble with Big Heat? The menu on the title screen is no responsive for me. Nothing is highlighted, hitting play on the remote will not start the film...nothing like paying $35 for a disc I can't play.

EDIT: fixed the problem by going into the settings and changing the BD Profile of the player from 5 to 2 and turning off the optical disc auto play feature.

Please let it be The Fly - a double-feature disc of both 50's films would be great, but I won't hold my breath.

Maybe it's Star Wars.

My guess is Fantastic Voyage

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

So what's this about TT putting out the blu-ray for James Brooks' "As Good As It Gets"?

Are they limiting that to 3000 copies? That's a movie that can certainly sell more than that.

That's the other likely candidate - I'd much rather have The Fly though.

Yeah, we discussed that earlier in the thread, concluding that it was proof that catalog sales are in the shitter.

I'd also really like to see The Fly released. I'd probably buy Fantastic Voyage--have childhood memories of that one--but like The Fly better.

Ordered the Big Heat last night. It apparently has shipped already.

7/10:

I'll buy Cover Girl. Hopefully Gilda is in the works. Zero interest in Magnificent Men.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

A thread on blu-ray.com is reporting that the 1990 Night of the Living Dead remake will be released on 10/9/12, limited to 3000 copies.

Awesome news, probably not awesome price.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

Yeah, I couldn't justify that purchase at 30 bucks. 10 maybe...

Found the thread.

Other fall releases:

September = The Sound and the Fury, Steel Magnolias

October = Enemy Mine

Don't see anything there that's grabbing me personally.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

Horray for ENEMY MINE and NOTL 1990. Two films I never thought would see a Blu Release. EMEMY MINE's visuals should benefit greatly from the 1080p presentation. That film is a curious memory from my youth -- coming just after DUNE as I recall, similar strange world, etc.

Nice! I'll "own" this title when someone puts it up for "finding". Ridiculous pricing.

You dont want to pay $35 for a barebones title that Sony was to cheap to release themselves?

Awesome, Steel Magnolias will be mine! Kidding, I'll pass on all of those. Enemy Mine is one I've always meant to see, but certainly not at that price.

I just don't like these guys very much period. Their style with Limited release, they have a negative attitude toward physical media, and of course their overpricing. They're nobodies to me

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

Problem isn't the the MSRP - it's that due to their limited quantity nature, they will never be found for a discount. I mean a $35 Criterion isn't so bad when you can easily find if for 40% off, but TT blu-rays are never offered at a discount even close to that.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

Damn, I really want to own the NOTLD remake, even more than I wanted Fright Night. I don't know if I can justify the price though...

EDIT: What's worse is that they are releasing these individually. I mean, if I could have ordered Fright Night and NOTLD at the same time, it MIGHT have convinced me to order them together to get a discount on shipping. But releasing these one at a time gradually makes the price even harder to swallow.

I guess I understand TT's unwillingness to discount their titles, but they could at least offer, say, free economy shipping for orders over $150 or something.
