I've played a good amount of the BR on PS4. It's a more arcad-y, more approachable version of PUBG. I really like it a lot. The building mechanic seems overwhelming at first, especially in a mode like this, but it's totally unnecessary. For free it's worth a try.

Re: Fortnite

The sale on some of the various game packs is over tomorrow. I pulled up the 'Standard' edition which on the PSStore is $23 now. I almost pulled the trigger but was wondering how is the following, getting into matchmaking with the PvE and if still worth a go?

Re: Fortnite

Isn't the paid version going to be free in January? Why not just wait a few more months if you've already waited this long?

Nah no release date on FTP but it sounds like it will be free between Q2-Q3

I couldn't begin to tell you how much its helped me being a lightning fast builder saved my life and my teammates.

Playing BR you will never be able to learn the in depth building mechanics. The rounds are too fast and your always on the move.

Also one cool strat is having your team surround another team while building a staircase upward and firing down on there heads. Total blast.

Ugh, I suck so bad at this, but I'm having so much fun! I've only played a few hours though. I think my best finish is 9th.

Re: Fortnite

I think twice this weekend I came close to buying the Standard version just ot give it a go but then a few games I play had some "Halloween Specials" pop up...destiny 2 not one...and I've been on them.

I did see this about a big patch/update and wanted to ask is the game still buggy in areas...yes being in a semi-long lasting Beta I could see that....but how it is overall.

Re: Fortnite

Got this and played it for a bit. It's a bit daunting. The build stuff is complicated. It was a free 6GB download, but it's definitely not the full version and it gets irritating when you get killed and it changes up your avatar.

It's so easy to get killed. Watch out for snipers, too. I've heard some of the players just say camp and let the enemy come to you.

Fortnite is the lame-o/dogshit version of PUBG that lacks all of the fun.

Re: Fortnite

Didn't like PUBG at all either - it's almost like people want gaming to take a giant step backwards for some reason.

Re: Fortnite

I just got back into this game since I have a friend who plays now. My best solo finish is 4th I think, we suck at duos, but we have won twice already in squads with two other guys we met in-game.

Anybody else still playing?

Yep. Most fun I have had playing video games in a long time.

It's definitely addicting when playing with a friend(s). I can see why all the kids on my nephew's baseball team talk about it while warming up, lol!

I have no idea how to build but it is fun to just play for 30 minutes without any pressure

Re: Fortnite

I played this in the morning and I still suck. It was hilarious seeing myself getting killed by this giant cloaked wraith -- the character design was pretty fucking awesome.

Re: Fortnite

Sony is blocking Fortnite Cross Play and even Cross Progression between Xbox, Switch and PS4
https://fortniteintel.com/2018/06/12...n-xbox-switch/

Earlier today, Fortnite officially debuted on the Nintendo Switch — free to play and download for all fans. It was confirmed by Epic Games that players on Nintendo Switch can play with Xbox One, PC, Mac, and iOS users and even have their progression transfer between those platforms.

What about PlayStation 4? Sony is once again blocking cross play. PlayStation 4 players can only play with PC, Mac, and iOS users and not between consoles. Even worse, Sony is apparently locking Epic Games accounts to only work on PS4, PC, Mac, and iOS versions of Fortnite.

If you try to use an Epic account linked to PlayStation Network to log in to Fortnite on Nintendo Switch, you are greeted by an error message stating that the account cannot be used, and there is nothing that Epic can do to fix it — you have to create a new account. Fans are also reporting that you cannot even unlink your PSN account and then try, you must create a new account entirely, meaning all of you progression and battle pass purchases are not available on the Switch.
Oh, Sony.

edit: to be clear, this means if you played the game on PC/Mac/iOS, bought all the content on PC/Mac/iOS, but just happened to ever log into your account on a PS4 (even if you never bought anything in-game), you can not use your account on Switch (or XBox) at all, ever.

Re: Fortnite

Anyone check this out on Switch? I may download this for the kid, so he can play on there and stop monopolizing my Xbox Live account.

Re: Fortnite

I downloaded it on Switch today and played a few rounds. Can't say it's any different than on the PS4 the I have it on. Finished 4th in a solo round, which is my best ever.

Same here - also downloaded for Switch today, and also came in 4th.

But I'm done with the Switch version. The joycon thumbsticks are awful - too loose and floaty. How anyone can aim with any precision using those is beyond me. It runs great, though, and I'd still love to be able to play it undocked.

Re: Fortnite

Thankfully, looks like native voice chat is in the Switch version. Article here. I'll give it whirl when they turn it on Thursday (according to the article).

Re: Fortnite

A lot of press is really criticizing Sony for this. I hope it gets Sony to change their stance quickly.

Also, this is basically the biggest game in the world now, with tons of athletes and celebrities playing too. I still haven't bothered with this or PUBG. So much for a few here debating with me that gamers don't want multiplayer only games
