Wasn't Ridley Scott making a movie based on Monopoly?

There is an actual Battleship used but only for the finale of the movie.
Spoiler:
They actually go to a naval musem and use the curators as their crew.
That use of a Battleship is the only link to the board game that I know of.

Depends on how bad you want to see the movie. They always give out more passes than there are seats to try to guarantee a full theater. As to how soon you need to get there depends on how popular the movie might be. I got a pass to a special screening of the first Spider-Man and got there 2 hours before the show and there was already a long line. Luckily they had it in 2 theaters.

Everything I have seen of this film so far just reeks

I wish this film was like a battleship...obsolete and no longer being made,

I would see the movie just to hear Neeson say that.

Yeah...I'd actually see the movie just to see him do that.

I would not see the movie if he said that while punching Algerians in their faces, WITH their faces, as Shakira stripped down entirely and demonstrating picking up peanut shells with her holiest-of-holies.

I would see any movie with Shakira stripped down -- even Battle LA.

No, Berg said in an interview awhile back that he made sure that line was not in the movie.

I guess it was in one of the early scripts, but he took it out.

Re: Battleship (2012) -- Liam Neeson/Taylor Kitsch -- Director: Peter Berg

I haven't seen this movie yet but at the end, there should be a scene of me punching my cousin for beating me again and then me shoving a few pegs up my nose. If not, it's definitely not true of the games of Battleship I've played.

Peter Berg. Setting the standard for script quality in mind-numbing action flicks.

That's a relief, cuz otherwise this movie would have been STUPID.

According to the review on blu-ray.com...
Spoiler:
"Never fear, superfans of the board game, the picture does make room for a major celebration of strategic thinking, using the movement of tsunami buoys to create an electronic grid for Alex and his ragtag crew (which includes a ridiculously miscast Rihanna) to use for a sneak attack on alien warships, planning their shots with missiles instead of plastic pegs. There’s actual “Battleship” in “Battleship,” which is either the dumbest thing committed to film this year or a most inspired bit of lunacy from Berg. You decide."

Re: Battleship (2012) -- Liam Neeson/Taylor Kitsch -- Director: Peter Berg

Oh and for you Liam Neeson fans out there, he's only in this for about 17 minutes tops.
Spoiler:
They don't kill him off but he's MIA for most of the film and only turns up at the end to go chat with Taylor Kitsch about potentially marrying his daughter.

Yup. Really. He was the only reason I'd maybe watch this but he's an over-glorified cameo at best.

The EW review calls BATTLESHIP "rousing, engaging, and emotionally complex."

WTF movie did THEY see? Now I'm interested in seeing this.

74 reviews in and it's still hanging at 43% on Rotten Tomatoes. For such an apparent train wreck, you'd think the rating would be much lower. Boxoffice.com is predicting a 2nd place finish with $47 million.

It may very well be by the time all 200+ reviews come in.

This looks really bad. Like really awful. I bet it gets it's own review thread!

Re: Battleship (2012) -- Liam Neeson/Taylor Kitsch -- Director: Peter Berg

Say what you want about the Transformers movies, but this movie looks absolutely uninteresting and a chore to sit through. It doesn't even have the entertaining popcorn flick aspect of it.

Neeson's glorified cameo seals it for me. I won't be seeing it.
