re: Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2016...maybe) S: Depp
"On Stranger Tides" wasn't terrible, but it lacked that "spark" the first three had. I liked the love / hate deal with Jack and Angelica, and it was good they had Gibbs...but I wanted the rest of the crew back. Something about Barbossa just felt different, too; I'd like to see a flashback of Blackbeard's ship attacking the Pearl.

Although I enjoyed OST, the problem was making Jack Sparrow the lead. Johnny Depp is the star, yes, but he was never the lead of the first three. The leads were Will and Elizabeth. Jack Sparrow was the wild card that came barreling into their story. That's how Jack Sparrow works best.
It's a shame the writers of 2 and 3 insisted on bringing back Will and Elizabeth. The way the first movie ended, each sequel should have been a new story with a new set of leading characters with Jack Sparrow screwing up everything he touches. The only recurring characters should have been Sparrow, Gibbs, the crew of the Black Pearl, and Norrington (hated how they butchered him in the sequels). Resurrecting Barbosa wasn't a bad idea and could have totally worked even with Will and Elizabeth out of the picture (though we wouldn't have gotten Kiera Knightley's look of genuine shock when Geoffrey Rush appeared for the ending of Dead Man's Chest).

All of the cast's expressions at the end of "Dead Man's Chest" were real. None of them were told that Geoffrey was in the film.

I still haven't seen any beyond part 1. But I bought the first 3...maybe I should get around to it.

Actually, considering their treatment of Stanton after JOHN CARTER bombed, they'd be more likely to put Verbinski on a sixth film.

I couldn't even tell you the plot of the last one. It was boring and long as hell. This one will be a rental at best.

I liked parts 2 and 3 better then most, but 4 was incredibly boring. The Jack Sparrow character has run it's course, he needs to be a supporting character if anything.

I think there's still life for the Sparrow character, but he needs to be less aerobic. #5 needs to be directed by Tarantino, something like 6 scenes and that's it. He can give a 20 minute monologue.

Director : Gaspar Noe
If that were true then maybe I would watch it only if someone caves in Jack Sparrow's skull at a gay pirate saloon.

Well if we're doing that we may as well just have Gaspar Noe and Nicolas Winding-Refn collaborate on it. They can add Monica Bellucci, Philippe Nahon and Ryan Gosling to the cast. Have Mads Mikkelsen be the bad guy.
