Dead Space Ignition is an XBLA/PSN prequel to DS2. Between this, Red Faction, and Dead Rising 2 it looks like this will become more common.

Multiplayer. Seems very reliant on teamwork. Waht do you guys think?

That looks crazy fun. Assuming you have a good team.

I can't wait. I loved the first game. I kinda wish it was a first person shooter but that's just my taste.

Re: Dead Space 2

This is pretty much the definition of a series that does NOT need multiplayer. Have we learned nothing from Bioshock?

Having said that, I'm ok with including it as long as the single-player aspect doesn't suffer, and as long as there are no multiplayer achievements/trophies to "extend" the life of the game by making you play a thousand matches to get them all.

And having said that, I still can't wait for this game!

Completely agree.

This is a release day buy for me. Hell, I had no interest in the PS Move controller until I saw they were doing an HD version of Dead Space Extraction. I love this series and the storyline.

Re: Dead Space 2

Anyone else get invited to the Dead Space 2 Multiplayer Closed Beta (PS3)?

Played one round last night. The same level in that trailer above. Team of humans vs team of aliens. I wasn't exactly sure what was going on. Seems like the humans were supposed to set something then defend it. If they were successful, time would be extended. Aliens just try to kill the humans.

Lots of teamwork needed for the human side. If you run off, you'll probably get slaughtered. The alien side seems to be more about providing an onslaught of threats. Teamwork might help in tracking down a stray human. But aliens die so quickly. I'm not sure if an organized attack will help much.

The map is interesting. There's a wide open area on top. And the bottom is filled with tight corridors. There are tons of alien respawn points.

Re: Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2 collector's edition with replica plasma cutter leaked

According to a (since removed) image found on Amazon and now posted on Examiner, the collector's edition of Dead Space 2 will include a life-size toy Plasma Cutter, in addition to a soundtrack CD, a DLC voucher, and a piece of artwork. EA announced its intention to produce a collector's edition for the sequel way back in January, when it sought ideas for pack-in items from fans. The plasma cutter happened to be on the list even then -- and we called it "outrageous."

Being a sort-of leaked item, EA hasn't officially announced its existence, and thus no information about its price is known.

I was invited as well. Downloaded and played one round, then went back to whatever else I was doing because, really, who needs this?

I also took the survey they sent to beta players and shared my feelings on the issue, not that I expect it to have an ounce of impact.

Re: Dead Space 2

They had me at CD soundtrack. Wonder what the price is going to be/ This will be one of the few CEs that I will go ahead and buy instead of waiting on a price break.

Re: Dead Space 2

So I pre-ordered this game waaaaay back in December 2009 to lock in a price of $49.25. Today I received this email:

Dear Amazon.com Customer,

The Amazon Video Games team thanks you for your order of "Dead Space 2." Now it's time to get you your bonus code.

Here is your bonus code: [Code]

This code will give you access to "Dead Space Ignition"

How to Use Your Code:
Step 1: Log on to the web browser of your choice and go to www.dsignition.com.
Step 2: Follow the on-screen instructions, and make sure you select your appropriate platform (Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 system) when prompted.
Step 3: You will then be prompted to enter the unique redemption key found above.
Step 4: You will receive a new live code for your selected platform (Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3) to download "Dead Space Ignition."
Step 5: Download Dead Space Ignition to your gaming console using the live code you received in step 4.

On XBOX Live press the guide button and go to the marketplace. Select "Redeem Code." Enter code and download. On PlayStation Network sign in and highlight "Account Management" and press the X button. Highlight "Redeem Codes" and press the X button. Enter the code above and download.

Dead Space Ignition will be added to your account and appear in the "download" list for you to download.

Note: each claim code is unique and can't be shared. Redemption codes expire 4/24/2011.
Uh, okay then. Totally unexpected, but I'll take it!

I looked at the product page and saw this listed as the Bonus Offer:

Free Downloadable Game: Pre-order Dead Space 2 for PS3 or Xbox 360 and get a free download of Dead Space Ignition on Playstation Network or Xbox Live. Download includes the full Dead Space Ignition downloadable game as well as two unique unlockables for Dead Space 2. The download code will be emailed to you within 2 business days of your order. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com, while supplies last. Limit one per customer.
So just a head's up, I guess you get it now if you pre-order.

^ not likely, but will this mean they will charge you at time of pre-order since the bonus is out now and prior to release and not let you cancel just to get free dl?

it downloaded an update for your xbox so every time you start a game a pop up tells you about the many great EA games you could be playing instead!!!

Hell I got the game, but with all the negative comments I am wondering if it is even worth starting up...

Wow, they were very generous. I played through the first 4 mini-games, and I'm really not sure I can take anymore.

I did get to see myself in the top 10 of the leaderboards for one of the minigames, which is something that I'm pretty sure hasn't happened before. So there's that.
