Looks like they may want True Blood's Stephen Moyer as Dr. Doom.
As you know Fox is currently in the process of prepping up for production on a new Fantastic Four movie, which will be a complete reboot of the franchise. According to an inside source, the studio is trying to get True Blood star Stephen Moyer to take on the role of Dr. Doom in the film. He's definitely not a bad choice to play the villain, unfortunately as of right now I could care less about seeing another Fantastic Four film. The first two movie's just completely killed any interest in another Fantastic Four movie.
It was also recently reported that Adrien Brody and Jonathan Rhys Meyers are in talks to play Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic. Obviously the studio is more interested in bringing Brody into the role, and why wouldn't they!? He's an Oscar winner. Alice Eve is also currently the frontrunner for the role of Susan Storm a.k.a. The Invisible Woman, and Kevin Pennington for Johnny Storm a.k.a. Human Torch.
It was also revealed to Comic Book Movie that the studiois planning to release Fantastic Four in the summer of 2012, so theres a chance it could go up against The Avengers, of course The Avengers will end up being the more successful film.
As far as the screenplay goes it's been revealed that the superhero team's origin story will be told during the opening credits of the film. There's still no director attached to the project but the studio has been holding meeting and it's down to three contenders, and we have no idea who they are... yet.

I really didn't have of a problem with the casting, just the stories were so damn weak. Very little tension built up. But I suppose with all those super powers getting them into situations where it'll be tough to get them out is not easy.
Love Alice Eve, check her out in Crossing Over. I just think they'd be trading one woman that was tough to take seriously as a scientist ofr another one.

Steven Moyer would be interesting as Dr. Doom.

If they're going to keep the film in the present, here's an idea: keep Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon on board. Recast everyone else. Everyone wins.

i'd be up for that, as well. although i think they wouldn't keep evans as 2 marvel characters now.

I think the next installment should be a darker version...like TDK.

If I were to cast this:
Guy Pearce as Reed Richards
Ben Foster as Johnny Storm
Imogen Poots as Sue Storm
and
The Thing should be totally CG, voiced by Brad Garrett.

Wow, didn't realize X3's budget was so huge. Still, I think revisiting and re-evaluating their own handling of production costs on their end is different from assuming that they feel comic book movies are on a decline.
Seems like waiting to see how the quasi reboot of X-Men works out before they get too deep into the drawing board for a new Fantastic Four. Maybe I just view the notion of a decline differently.

I just hope she has the ability to actually deliver the lines instead of sounding like a read-through. Not sure if it was Jessica Alba's delivery or just some bad direction.

This is by far one of the most confusing film series outside the AvP series. How hard is it to make a good Fantastic Four movie?! you have to be a real fucking retard not to be able to make a good movie out of this.

Something about costume heros in a reality setting seems to clash with me. Looks hokey. Almost like mixing animation with live film. For me backdrops like Gotham City, Victorian era, and 1930's/'40s pulp lends credibility to the concepts.
You can't have people in super hero suits running around in a New York that looks like the New York of The French Connection.
