I don't know, maybe it's a one-time thing? Or very occasional? Or they got a good deal on the wholesale price for this one?

Considering that I'd hoped that they would carry 4 non-Star Wars new release titles this past week, and they carried none of those, then I'm not getting my hopes up too high. But yeah, it would be good.

I'm hoping for better price for "Heroes: Reborn" there.

But we'll see what happens on Tuesday.

Not my cup of tea, but Walmart has The Halloween Collection 3 Film Set DVD for $5.00. Includes Halloween H2O, Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers and Halloween: Resurrection. According to the specifications, this is the Lionsgate edition (whatever that may mean).

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

The most favorite season for me is Halloween.

And it's that time when stores pull out their themed merchandise.

Wal-Mart has theirs out now. Picked up "The Birds" this last Tuesday for $7.50.

I'm wondering if they'll have a cardboard shelf or on a rack the Univeral Legacy monster movie DVDs.

They did last year, checked my archive (yes, I am that anal). Picked up "Phantom Of The Opera" with new cover and "The Wolf Man" collection then.

All that remains for me is "The Invisible Man". Has anyone of see them?

In this year's Halloween rack, the only ones I've seen; UM is "Frankenstein" and "Dracula".

Back home.

Okay.

No comments, so I had to visit myself.

Yes, they have a Universal Monster movie rack.

But it's the same one from last year. These are the single disc version of the movies (DVDs and a few BDs). The only difference is they've added a limited edition, glow-in-the-dark slipcover.

DVDs cost $7.96 each.

Dracula
Frankenstein
The Mummy
Creature From The Black Lagoon
Phantom Of The Opera
The Invisible Man

Child's Play
(and another movie I've forgotten)

I think I saw a spot for "An American Werewolf In London".

- - -

In the main Halloween area there were two Legacy Collections, "Dracula" and "Frankenstein".

The only one I'm missing is "The Invisible Man" Legacy with the slipcase.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

An update to my last post.

Two others with glow-in-the-dark slipcases are "Dracula" (1979) and "An American Werewolf In London".

But be warned for AAWIL this is not the complete Full Moon Edition. This is a repackaging; only disc one from that set is presented here.

Not sure how that came about. Just being cheap with packaging or something more...

The movie just came on Blu-Ray recently with all the extras. Perhaps a nod that you need to buy the BD copy for full bonus content, the DVD is lacking.

Which isn't true, you can still buy that two disc set.

I've been disappointed with Walmart's Halloween offerings this year. A much bigger focus on cheap, independent horror and few classic studio releases.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I ordered this but it still hasn't even shipped to the store where it was to be picked up by today. Anyone else having this kind of issue with Walmart's Site to Store program? I'll be ticked if they cancel it and I miss out on the deal!

FWIW I've *never* had a "site to store" shipment arrive "on time."

They're slow for me as well. What's worse is that I ordered 5 items, and they're all being shipped, and e-mailed to me, separately (so I have to print out 5 different e-mails). 1st item arrived yesterday, another 3 today, still no word on the 5th. And 3 of them were in the BF shippers that the store already shipped back. I wish there was some way an employee could have grabbed some of them off of there.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I saw today that my local Wal-mart has "Mary Tyler Moore Show" bundled in a set of Seasons 1 thru 4 for just $20!

Excellent deal when you consider that Amazon has them individually priced around $12 to $15 each . . . the last time I checked.

Who would have thought Ed Asner, Mary's boss on the TV series would still be living at 87 while Mary left this world on Jan. 25, 2017 at the age of 80. Lou Grant looked so much older than Mary on the show.

With the exception of Ted Knight who died in 1986 at the age of 62, the rest of the cast of MTM are leading long lives. Both Cloris Leachman and Betty White are now in their 90s, while Gavin McLeod and Ed Asner are in their mid-80s. I never thought Mary Tyler Moore would die before them, but I was aware she was a diabetic and had health issues.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I believe Ted Knight had prostrate cancer and refused conventional treatment. But other celebrities dying young would be Phil Hartman of the 'News Radio ' TV series being shot by his wife for cheating.

I have noticed my two Wal Mart stores in my area seem to be consolidating inventory for the last 8 months and wonder whether they will succumb/downsize to online shopping like the K-Mart chain?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

The store is selling re-releases of existing Universal Studios with new slipcovers and theater voucher to see the new "Mummy" movie.

So I took a snap.

How is the 2004 remake of "Dawn Of The Dead" related?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I know this is a DVD bargain thread but I have been reading on slickdeals.com how Wal Mart, Target and other box stores put electronic TVs, computers and accessories out in the aisle marked down over 50% or more when seasonally making room for new product. Since we go into these stores to check DVD bargains anyway, wouldn't it be informative to at least mention when seeing these drastically reduced items.
