Dropmix is $20 in stores at Gamestop. The future is not looking great for this game. I'm just hoping they don't drop the app support or something that would make the game unplayable.

We've been playing it a lot lately. It's nice to have a game like this that's easy to play with young kids, and they like the music too.

There were a couple stores about 80 miles away that have it, but I'm not inclined to drive that far for it.

It's funny that you guys were talking about the game so heavily the last few posts, because I'm pretty sure I haven't even heard of it before.

DropMix is a board game with a mobile device component. You play with a deck of cards with RFID chips in it and a board that does the whole NFC thing. Cards are color-coded and represent tracks from different songs (vocals, guitars, keys, drums, etc.). The game automatically creates a mash-up of whatever different elements from different songs are in play. (...and if you have a nice Bluetooth speaker or if the AVR in your home theater is Bluetooth-capable, then it's especially awesome!)

You can buy more cards separately if you want additional songs (or different elements of the same songs you already have parts of).

The primary game element is pretty simplistic but ridiculously fun. Basically, you just want more of your team's color-coded cards on top of a series of stacks. But there are FX cards that disrupt play, and you can press the DropMix button on the board to force the opposing team to remove certain cards (and changing the tempo of the current mix).

My wife and I have been having a blast with ours, and we paid way more for it. The only annoying thing is what I mentioned earlier -- if you're trying to cherrypick specific packs, it's a pain. The smaller 'Discover' packs aren't randomized but all have the same SKU, so you can't order a specific pack from an online retailer, and the selection in stores is sparse-to-non-existent, so it's hard to choose that way either. It's a different story with the larger packs, although the cards I'm most interested in are in the smaller ones.

It's one of those things that pretty much everyone who plays it winds up loving it -- even if they were skeptical beforehand -- but Hasbro bungled the launch about as thoroughly as they possible could've.

Another game mode has been teased, another season of packs is on the way, and Harmonix just launched DropMix Insider if you want to keep up.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

It's also worth mentioning that Amazon has complete bundles of the Discover Packs Series 1 & 2 for $25 each. That way you are buying a complete set, and not random sets like Adam mentioned.

Amazon Amazon

Amazon Amazon

The only annoying part about the game is that certain stores have exclusive Playlist Packs (which are different than the Discover Packs). Target and Amazon still have theirs in stock for $15 each, but good luck finding the Toys R Us one at a decent price since they are now closed.

Interesting, I guess it's more a board game then video game, which I assume is why I haven't really seen it talked about in the typical gaming sites I visit.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

There's a Black Friday in July sale going on at Best Buy this weekend.

Not a ton of amazing deals, but some good stuff in there.

I picked up Ni No Kuni 2 (PS4) and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch) for $23 each after GCU and in-store pick-up option.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I ordered the Mega Man collection on Switch for 24 plus tax after GCU. Also, if you have a Switch and need a game case, the Power A cases are really well made and are on clearance. They are 6.99 apiece. I have the Mario one and just ordered the Zelda one. They hold 12 games and 12 memory cards. The memory cards actually lock in underneath each game slot. The cases are really sturdy and worth the money.

A bunch of Switch games are on sale at Best Buy. For instance, if you're Unlocked, Fire Emblem Warriors is down to $39.99 after the discount, and Kirby Star Allies is $31.99.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Does anyone know if Amazon changed the way you can use your slow shipping credit? I have roughly $30 and can't seem to apply it to any purchases. I tried digital cards, DLC, digital games, etc and couldn't get any of them to apply the credit.

Hasn't the credit been for Prime Now recently? I haven't really seen the point of it, since if I don't need items within 2 days, I certainly don't need them same-day.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I’ve never accumulated that much. Maybe $20 or so but they all applied nicely to next purchase. All smaller ones have as well. I get most my One digital codes from Amazon bc of credits and ease of it all...
