The demo was great, but there was just too much coming out at the same time.

Wrong. Ever since it took the name "Arcade" it's included a wireless controller. I know, I have one.

I'd wait till it drops to $39, but by then I think everyone will have moved onto [insert 360 shooter here] and I won't have anyone to play with.

Sorry, I didn't mean a wireless controller, I meant:

Well, in that case, it's not included in ANY model of the 360, so being an Arcade wouldn't be a factor.

The arcade system does not come with a headset either. Buy.com has a refurb 20gb starter kit with headset and 3 months of live for $44.

Oh it's just the HDD. I thought it was the entire system.

Crap...forgot about that.

Pretty much means it goes in the office and gets played on a big old standard def set....or it stays in Wal-Mart. Damned if I'm going to pay as much for a wireless dongle as I do for the system itself.

That doesn't sound too bad.

I guess I'd think of it as $15 for the headset, 20 for the hard drive and $10 for 3 months of live.

That's a pretty good summer right there.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I wouldn't sign up on xbox.com for a name. If you get the system and make a gamertag on that system and choose to just do a silver account... I'm pretty sure then it automatically offers you a a free month of Gold access to whet your appetite.

Also, i am one of those suckers who entered my CC info 6 years ago and allow it to autrenew for the full 50$. I have never once thought it wasn't worth the money. The cheaper 30$ deals are an absolute steal.

Glad I'm not the only one here letting Live autorenew.

I agree, I never regretted having Live basically renew itself for under $5/month!

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

You can have your account autorenew but you can also add card(s) to your account. You only get charged if all your time runs out.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, I also have my CC on Live but I'm not sure if it has ever been renewed. With all the deals on cards from the previous months right now I'm good until 2012, so no concerns here.

chess, don't go to the dark side. They kick kittens over there. And I also heard they greenlighted that TV show with Michael Strayhan and the guy from the John Larroquette show.

At least that's what I heard.

Really? I was kind of looking forward to racial epithets and homophobia.

The only thing holding me back right now is that stupid dongle. That's really upsetting, since my router is nowhere near my LR setup and is even farther from my bedroom.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

It's really sad when you can buy a Nintendo DS for $30 more than that dongle. That dongle shouldn't be more than $30 at this point and it should be built into every 360 produced going forward.

What's sad is that the technology in the dongle is already in every DS already made. It's absurd that it's not included in the 360. My living room is wired with CAT 5 since the XBOX days, but for a console make in 2009, it's a little inexcusable.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

You don't need the official from Microsoft. Any wireless bridge adapter should work. They are also now called wireless gaming adapters, but it's just a wireless bridge adapter.

I got one from woot, a refurbished linksys wireless N adapter for like $20. Works really well.
