As much as I still love Natalie, it's definitely become a love/hate kind of thing by now.

I'm not sure Emily or Marti have done Stern more than the one time they all came together. It's Natalie that seems to have some kind of creepy love for Howard. It's rather unsettling just how much she talks about him, follows him, mentions him, etc.

I really assumed the Chicks would make another album soon, but after listening to her on her last Stern appearance, she sounded like she wanted to go out on top with the last album and the Grammy wins. She still seems very bitter about what country radio did to them and says the Chicks are still a band that would need country radio to have the success they used to have and she doesn't want to ever give them any power over her career again.

Seems rather selfish and shortsighted to me. But when she said she was basically "forced" into doing some shows with the Chicks in Canada this summer and didn't really push back much when Howard made some jokes about the Court Yard Hounds, it certainly seemed to me like Natalie didn't see any future for the Chicks ever.

If they do get back together in another 3-5 years, it won't be the same. I suppose everyone has the right to do what they want to do, but it seems very cowardly to just give up like she's done. If she said she was now afraid to perform with the band for fear of some crazy nut-job still looking to make a political point, I think I could and would understand that. But I don't think that has anything to do with why she feels like the Chicks are probably done.

I, personally, have only heard 2 tracks off the new album. I like the Pink Floyd cover better, but I think she sings Eddie's song about as well as any female could. Eddie gets so much emotion out of his voice without even having to do much that he's a really tough vocalist to cover, even for someone as talented as Natalie. I think I'd like the song more if I didn't already think Eddie did it so perfectly.

I was curious as to the Dixie Chicks shows here in Canada and why they were happening. Not sure how she is getting forced into them, but if I get a chance to catch one, I might.

Unlike the US (at least in Natalie's mind), they are guaranteed to sell out big arenas in Canada. That's a nice little paycheck for Emily, Marti and even their manager. Natalie specifically said she "felt forced" and I assume they at least get along well enough where Natalie isn't going to say to no to all 3 of her closest friends for many, many years when it comes to getting everyone a nice, big wad of cash.

I don't think by forced that there's any contractual agreement, just that Natalie implied she would choose to pass on the guaranteed money and the other 3 voted the other way, so she's "forced" to do it in because of that.

Again, I think Natalie is pretty self-involved, love her voice and even her politics, but definitely think she comes across as being a b*tch, almost because she get's a kick out of it or making people think it about her. Kind of like her hero Howard Stern. But, I also think she's not so unhappy about "getting paid" for the shows up in the Great White North as she's publicly stated.

They have some good tunes. However, if I pay money to go to one of their concerts I don't want to hear about their political beliefs. Remember, you're being paid to entertain. It's supposed to be fun.

Way to many celebrities try to press their beliefs on people when they are not all that educated to begin with. For people like the Dixie Chicks, Tom Cruise, and a few others its kinda backfired.

I always view it as I'm paying to experience the person/band, it's their stage and I'm here to see what they do. I don't care if you talk about politics or the hot girls in the crowd as long as I feel honesty.

I think the issue with the Dixie Chicks is that they became something way bigger than just the music, that political boulder fell on them and they will never get out from under it. Remember, the same thing kinda happened to The Beatles as well. John said that they were bigger than Jesus and the south exploded with hatred towards them. They did another tour and decided to stay in the studio.

And they were hardly going out even on a semi-regular basis and talking about their political beliefs. Hell, when Natalie said the dreadful words that she was ashamed to be from the same state as Bush, most of their fans thought the Chicks held mostly conservative viewpoints.

I saw them on their last tour and they hardly made any kind of political speech. Eddie Vedder and Bruce do and have done if far more often and you don't hear anyone complaining.

The Beatles stopped touring because nobody could hear them play -- not even themselves. The stadiums were just screaming girls. Produce George Martin references the fact that the equipment for live playing was nowhere near the level it is today.

yes, the whole Beatlemania phenomenon was also a influence in the decision to stop touring. The comment, taken out of context or not, hurt the band, they stopped selling out venues and had protest outside them when they did show up. I remember reading that it did influence the decision to leave the road.

Dixie Chicks Announce Summer 2016 U.S. Tour

Country trio's DCX MMXVI trek will hit more than 40 U.S. markets after it launches June 1st

The Dixie Chicks have revealed the dates for a 2016 tour that will take them all across the U.S. next summer. Following their previously announced European trek, the DCX MMXVI World Tour will kick off June 1st at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.The multi-award-winning trio will visit more than 40 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, wrapping up their road trip with a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in October. Tickets for the DCX MMXVI World Tour go on sale beginning Friday, November 20th. (See the tour dates below.)

Although the "Ready to Run" trio has hit the road several times over the past decade, they haven't released a new album since the five-time Grammy winner Taking the Long Way in 2006. The group toured with the Eagles in 2010, the same year members Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer formed the Court Yard Hounds duo. Each year since then, they have played a few select dates as a group, with Natalie Maines releasing her solo rock LP, Mother, in May 2013. Court Yard Hounds released their second album, Amelita, in July of that year. From October 2013 to March 2014, the group traveled North America and Europe on the Long Time Gone Tour.

The biggest-selling female band of all time in the U.S., the Chicks have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, with two of their releases, 1998's Wide Open Spaces and 1999's Fly selling more than 10 million copies each. Their reputation as consummate live performers, delivering a high-octane blend of country, bluegrass and rock, has been matched (if not surpassed) by their knack for outspokenness. In 2003, the trio's streak of chart-scaling country hits came to an abrupt end on a concert stage in London, when Maines made her infamous declaration in protest of then-President Bush and the impending Iraq War, saying, "We're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas." Maines' comments and the fallout from that statement were captured in the band's 2006 documentary Shut Up and Sing.

Maines was right. Bush and Cheney were lying to the American people to justify the war in Iraq, which turned out to be a disaster. They should call this comeback the "I TOLD YOU SO" Tour. If anyone ever brings up the events of the 2003 with Maines, she should be as smug and arrogant as she can possibly be about letting people know that she was absolutely right, and every person that ever criticized The Dixie Chicks was (at best) an idiot.
