The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm doing this thread for the benefit of all the people who shop at their local Borders. Since January 2006, Borders started pricing all their store items, except mainstream new releases, at retail price. To compensate for this, the went nationwide with a Borders Rewards membership and started to send weekly coupons to all the people who registered online. Most of this coupons require people to get their membership for their rewards program at their local store. The card is free. You can get more info on the card at www.bordersrewards.com . You can check the inventory for nearby stores at www.bordersstores.com. The coupons are only valid in-store.

Feel free to post your coupon, no matter how much is the discount. I will put all available coupons in this first post. All contributions will be appreciated.

This thread is exclusively for Borders coupons that include DVDs in the offer

Volume 1

Rewards members. The rewards card is free and you can get it at any Borders store with no hassle. Most, if not all, coupons are for rewards members.

Ummm... this new thread would have been more helpful if it was opened with the still-working codes from the last thread....

I'm a big fan of this thread. Even when they e-mail me the 20% of 25% off coupon each week, I just come here for the 30% off one -- and usually it's here before I even get the e-mail. Thanks, folks.

Did they stop printing out coupons when you purchase in store? I never receive any coupons although my mother claims she gets coupons but she could be mistaking the survey slips for coupons.

I got a 30% coupon tonight.

But I can't checkout on-line!!! It's been laughing at me all day.

Disappointing prices. I tried to get the Moral Tales box set and after coupon it came out at $56, factoring in the tax it was a bit over $60, while the DeepDiscount price is $55, even less than Borders with 40% off and no tax. Amazon has it for like $75.
Still pondering about buying Berlin Alexanderplatz, final price should be about $7X. Might work if I can't find someone to split the BOGO or decide to get the Agnes Varda set from DD.

How common are the 40% off coupons? I am considering getting a Borders $50 gift card for $17 and then using that to purchase The Forgetting Sarah Marshall/40 YO Virgin/Knocked Up 3-pack.

I don't think you can apply coupons to gift card purchases. Although it would be awesome, you could double dip and get a total of 64% off.

I'd say a 40% off comes every month or two (?)

I think awil thought the following:
1. buy gc, 40% off, so the cost is $30.
2. buy an item with it, 40% off, if the item would be $30, you would only pay $18.
This ain't gonna happen.

I already used the BC4777 coupon, so this will come in quite handy. Thanks!

Sorry, I wasn't cleat at all. BUT... I am not an idiot-- which I would be if I thought you could complete step 1 in the post above. I should have specified that the gift card would be bought using reward points from my credit card (with $17 on top of that since I don't have enough points for a $50 gift card).

Thanks for the 40% off coupon and code. I have a 30% off coupon I was going to use with my $25 GC. Now I get to save an extra 10%. Sweet!

I know this has probably been discussed before but...

Is the "limit 3" the number of times you can use the coupon or how many items you can take 40% off of in one transaction?

Thought I'd point out something I discovered. A lot of the "hard to find" MGM Midnite Movies w/ Vincent Price titles that some of us rushed to pick up at Oldies.com are available here for $11.99. After applying the 40% off coupon it's around the same price Oldies had them, except you only have to buy $25 for free shipping instead of $75. http://www.borders.com/online/store/...7&simple=false

It's the number of titles that you can take 40% off in one order. Each coupon code can only be redeemed once at borders.com. BTW, even though the coupon states that it's for single and double disc titles, the 40% was deducted from an Anime box set that contained 6 discs. If there is a box set that you want, you should put it in your cart to see if the 40% gets deducted.

I'm getting the same issues as Peep:

"We're sorry. This feature is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Everything went well until the very end (coupon accepted fine). Anyone else try to make an order today, either successfully or getting the same error?

Not a bad deal at 40% off. I went for:
- 3 season set of "Have Gun - Will Travel"
- 2nd season of Star Trek: The Original Series (pre-order)

Taking in to account the higher price with 40% discount it broke even with DeepDiscounts normal price with a 20% discount. So instead of waiting until next November's DeepDiscount sale I can get them now.

Update: The order went through on a second attempt and I have an email into their customer service to verify the first attempt did fail before final processing.

In addition, it is worth noting that the coupon worked for a pre-order which is not allowed during DeepDiscount sales, so this may be a good time to think ahead for those upcoming releases.
