Glad part 2 is on one disc this time. Would it be asking too much for part 3 to have the theatrical version, without the stuff added for the home video release?

This wasn't a case of a director changing his mind after-the-fact and attempting to revise history. Coppola could not get his final cut of the movie ready in time. The home video version is the final cut.

I was thinking about this like, "Well I don't watch the films that frequently and I haven't watched the DVDs but a few times, I can probably pass."
We all know that won't be happening.

I actually like that they charge immediately, because you can get it out of the way, budget-wise. If you're using a debit card and you don't keep a whole lot of money in the account, you don't have a charge just pop up one day that you may have forgotten about. It seems like it would complicate canceling though.
What would be better is to have an option to charge now or not.

Wow, it looks good. However, there are a few white specs on the shot with the car and the Statue of Liberty in the background. I hope that doesn't happen often throughout the transfer.

I'm watching the first one right now. I don't know how anyone could complain about DNR. This thing is teeming with grain. It's a very film-like presentation.

Oh yeah, it's a massive improvement. I'm doing some A/B comparisons now, and the fidelity on the Blu-ray is just astounding in comparison. The colors are also not nearly as warm. There's a lot of color bleeding on the SD, which is not present on the Blu-ray. Looking at them side by side, it's no contest. The Blu-ray presentation beats the SD by a country mile.
Haven't watched the second or third yet, can't wait to see how they look.

The softness in the image he refers to has absolutely nothing to do with DNR application. If there were any alterations they would have affected the entire composition of the print. On the contrary, during the first 30-40 min, an area the old releases of The Godfather have always suffered a great deal, the print provided here looks very natural. This being said part 3 looks to be, as expected, very strong. Finally, I don't believe that the grabs actually do the new transfer justice, the color scheme is much more impressive.
