Bon Jovi - "Lost Highway" - June 19

bonjovi.com:
BON JOVI’s NEW ALBUM, LOST HIGHWAY, SET FOR JUNE 19th RELEASE

(Monday, March 19, 2007)
BON JOVI’s NEW ALBUM, LOST HIGHWAY, SET FOR JUNE 19th RELEASE SOULFUL FIRST SINGLE, “(YOU WANT TO) MAKE A MEMORY,” GOES TO RADIO ON MARCH 20th

Follows-up multi-platinum album Have A Nice Day – featuring Grammy and People’s Choice Award-winning #1 single “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”

(March 19, 2007 – New York, NY) Flush with the success of their record-breaking world tour and multi-platinum album Have A Nice Day – Island Records group Bon Jovi has completed a new album, LOST HIGHWAY.

Produced by Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts) and John Shanks (who co-produced Have A Nice Day, and whose credits include Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Chris Isaak and others) LOST HIGHWAY will arrive in stores June 19th on Island Records/Mercury Nashville. “(You Want To) Make A Memory,” the first single from the new album, will be blasted out to radio on Tuesday, March 20th.

Bon Jovi is scheduled for live performances of “(You Want To) Make A Memory” on the upcoming 6th annual CMT Awards broadcast (April 16th live from Nashville); on Fox’s “American Idol” (May 2nd); and on NBC’s “Today Show” Outdoor Plaza (June 19th). Mean*while, Bon Jovi-watchers have already discovered the album’s title song, “Lost Highway” in the new box office smash film, Wild Hogs. Another album track, “We Got It Going On,” a duet with Big & Rich, is the theme song for the new Arena Football League season on ESPN.

Bon Jovi has sold over 100 million albums around the world and performed more than 2,500 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 32 million people.
Word is that the entire album leans towards the country-ish sound of “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”

The new single will be available (streaming, I assume) on bonjovi.com starting today at 10am

Hmm, their album shares a name with an alt-country label, their actual label is Mercury Nashville and they're performing on CMT.

It's funny, such a genre-jumping/crossover attempt always strikes me as desperate.

Bon Jovi is one of my favorite bands, but I thought “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” was the worst song on their last album. I'm sure I will buy this album around release day, but I am not looking forward to a potential change in sound.

Thanks, Cow. I'll assume for now that work blocks certain streams. I'll try at home tonight.

edit: yep--works at home.

am I alone in actually preferring Bounce to the more successful Crush and Have A Nice Day albums? To me, Bounce was more what I wanted to hear from the guys that I was listening to in 1987, yet it flopped and sunk without a trace

I own all their albums, so I will probably buy this. Their last album was decent enough imo to take a chance on this one.

i've found value in all their albums--except 'this left feels right.' what a load of horseshit.

It's hit or miss, I enjoyed some of the tracks, I agree though with your comments.

Well, they've always been enamoured with the "cowboy" lifestyle, so it wouldn't surprise me so much if this was a full-on C&W disc.

I haven't given it a listen yet. Maybe in a day or two..

I got mine at Target and one of my favorite songs on it is Target exclusive Walk Like A Man. Good CD
Expensive day - Bon Jovi, Brad Paisley, and I'll say it Mandy Moore

Also bought Bob Seger Smokin' OPs at WalMart for $5.50

I have listened to Lost Highway a few times and this easily ranks as Bon Jovi’s worst album. There are four or five good songs so it is not completely terrible. However, the album overall is just not very memorable. No songs really stand out as singles or anthems.

I like these songs from Lost Highway:

1. Lost Highway
4. Whole Lot Of Leaving
6. Any Other Day
8. Everybody's Broken
10. The Last Night

I think I hate "We Got It Going On." I admit it is kind of catchy, but incredibly lame.

Downloaded this from iTunes today and gave it a few spins.

I like it... for the most part.

Some of the songs seem to just blend into each other, but that's okay. Most of the music that I listen to is just background while I'm working, so it works for me.

There are a couple of songs that I can't stand (when I'm paying attention) and "We Got It Going On" is one of them (the one with Big & Rich).

I like the Leanne Rhimes song (but it's a bit unnerving that a 40-something and a 20-something are singing a duet about "Not [being] Strangers Any More."

All in all I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

(.... oh and I caught the VH1 Un-Plugged tonight and it was great! Hopefully they'll release an album version of that. The slowed down "It's My Life" with guests The All American Rejects was great! )

the slowed down 'it's my life' is on 'this left feels right' (along with the slow/jazzy 'you give love a bad name')

Hey, don't sweat it. I absolutely hate teen pop music and I heard Wild Hope at the music store and couldn't believe it was Mandy Moore. She's completely shed all traces of her musical past and the album sounds very good.
