Lucky Louie not picked up for a second season
According to discussion on the Guys With Feelings podcast, Lucky Louie has not been picked up for a second season. Tami Sagher, a writer, broke the news that she received from showrunner Mike Royce. That episode of the podcast can be heard here:

The show wasn't amazing, but it definitely was getting better by the week.
HBO could, and did, do worse for a summer comedy show. I think this sums it up pretty well:

It was OK. Had some moments, but was nothing spectacular. It was a nice diversion for the summer programming, though.

It did get better as it went along and I thought sometimes it could be really funny, but I'm not too shocked it got axed...however, with it's extremely "play" like feel and low budget sets, how much could this show have cost to produce? It must have really done poorly not to get another season from the network that gave us Arli$$

i thought it had funny moments, i would have liked to see a second season.
they definitely should have done away with the studio audience, they hardly laughed and really brought down the show. granted it wasnt a hysterical show, but the audience laughs were pretty nonexistant, and nothing you should have broadcasted.

I'm very surprised HBO didn't renew it. Aside from Larry Sanders and Curb Your Enthusiasm I found this to be the best HBO comedy series I've seen in quite awhile.
If the creators sold it as a per ep download purchuse I'd buy new ones.

Classic line!Although I found this show to be much better than any fat guy/hot wife show I've seen on broadcast.
