Yep, Best Buy's website is sold out, but 3 of my locals have them. I would love to drop by and get one, but I'm gonna wait a little while.

Hmm, really tempted. Will at least go out and check on them today. Two of my local stores have them in stock.

That's the same guy who posted on HTF.

3 stores here in NYC have them. I'm going to go check it out today since I was going anyway. Heh. It's a bitch not to bite right now...but a wise Jedi once said..."PATIENCE!"

Funny how so many said they would wait it out, but now with all the hype people are rushing to buy these players. Funny thing is that only one guy was able to get software.

I JUST GOT ONE! I was at best buy and noticed an employee carrying a huge white box. i saw "toshiba hd-dvd player" , asked him about it and he said they got 2 in and it was the last one. i bought it on impulse only. the only software they had was 1 copy of Serentiy so i bought it, but im not really interested.

now the main question is... to ebay or not to ebay?

if anyone cares, i did a quick size comparison... i really like the hd-dvd cases... hopefully they keep the same cases when releasing tv shows and box sets (one major gripe of mine about sd-dvd collecting [varying case sizes])

just seeing it at the store was enough for me to purchase on my best buy credit. i may or may not actually keep it (if i can make enough profit on ebay to be able to re-buy a player at a later date, i might do that)... i'd really like to have an HD-dvd party tonight, but dont think my friends would be too keen on Serenity. I really wanted The Last Samurai or Million Dollar Baby.

Is there really such a demand for these that people could make a profit on ebay??

i wouldnt buy one on ebay personally and dont know enough about the demand for these... i think i'll end up keeping it, but you bet if they start selling for $700+, it will go up on there. i sold an xbox360 for $1650 last year- ebayers are crazy.

i cant just let it sit there and not open it... the suspense is killing me. im going to hook it up, watch serenity and maybe a SD-DVD or two.
and then if they start showing up on ebay for crazy amounts, ill just sell it as an opened item.
but this is something i was probably going to buy eventually anyways, and i can unload some old SD-DVDs on ebay to help pay for it.

you might want to take a clearer pic of the back. it's a bit blurry.

I can't remember. were you planning on buying an hd/br before this? or you just happened to be at best buy this morning?

While I am determined to wait it out, there is someone, somewhere that has a toy that I must possess. That seems to bother me.

Congrats.

Why on earth would they enforce the street date on the discs themselves? It's not like they are movies that aren't already available on standard DVD. I just can't see the studios caring that they would be sold a few days early.

Some are, some aren't. There are people who have purchased movies already.

I know that. My question was directed towards the ones that aren't obviously.
