The figures themselves aren't so bad as far as taking up space it's the fucking boxes that are the issue.

Hot Toys put up Princess Leia in her Hoth outfit from The Empire Strikes Back. Pre-ordered mine from BBTS. Might go through Sideshow if I get a coupon.

Looks great. The lips are too red and the hands are a bit large, but those are minor nitpicks.

I have an Amazon gift card that should cover the cost... hopefully a third-party seller will have it for close to retail.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

I think this is the money shot for me and the one that's gonna push me over to the "buy" camp

I also like the shots with the oxygen mask.n Both of these angles/poses help mitigate the wide-eyed zombie look that it still has and that plagues almost all of HTs female figures.

Is BBTS the best place to pick these up?
Do they charge non-refundable deposits?
Otherwise I still have about $20 left in points at SS I could use. Probably won't get used for another statue the way prices have been going up.

Leia looks amazing, but I have to restrain myself with Star Wars and not get sucked into collecting them again

Unfortunately it looks like they are already sold out !?!

Is this normal? .

__________

and ordered...via Alter-ego comics ($217 shipped using their home page coupon). Only $1 deposit, but they do charge 20% if you cancel after 30 days from order date.

I have some quibbles about using them again as they did me dirty several years back on a Bowen statue that I pre-ordered only to have canceled after they were released because they weren't allocated enough. I ended up finding it locally for much less, but it was more of the idea that a locking in a PO with them wasn't really any guarantee after all.

They kind of made up for it by coming through with an even more limited GG Black Widow a few years later, but it's the one time burn that stays with me the most.

Anyways, looking forward to Leia which will be my first HT figure.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

It depends on the figure but most don't sell out that fast. BBTS gets their allotment from Sideshow and I don't think they generally get as many. Even so though sometimes a figure will sell out at Sideshow first but still be available at BBTS (happened recently with my Han Solo from The Force Awakens).

Sideshow is getting old with NRD's and ridiculously high shipping costs. Seriously there's no reason I can order a Hot Toys figure from Sideshow that comes only in the shipper and have it be like $20 or more for shipping when BBTS will put the items in another box and ship for like $5. The only reason to order from them is the rewards points or if they have an exclusive. I also kind of like their flex pay program and the times I've had to contact customer service they're decent. Just some things about them irritate me. I might start using BBTS more or possibly try Alter Ego as I've heard they're decent.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

I've only made one order with Alter Ego. I bought a statue that arrived chipped, so I asked for a replacement. The woman at the store called to say the distributor would not provide another statue, but they would issue a $20 partial refund if I kept the damaged one. I told her that was unacceptable. She let out a sigh and said "Yeah, thought so."

The next week she e-mailed a return label to send it back directly to the distributor. The tracking showed it was delivered after two days, but three weeks passed and I never heard anything from them. They only issued a refund after I made a follow-up inquiry. As a new customer, that left a bad impression and turned me off from shopping there again.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

I haven't ordered from Alter Ego before but it seems like most people have good experiences. That's too bad about the issue you had. BBTS is pretty reliable. I haven't used them a ton but have ordered a few of my Hot Toys from them and a couple smaller figures.

I picked up one of these.

Its not too bad for $70. I am going to mount this on the wall.

Not my video. Someone's review.

Where were you find it for $70? I'd definitely pick one up if I could find it for that price.

I ordered mine from Walmart.com. Target has them for the same price.

If your local Best Buy has them in stock, you could pricematch it.

I also wouldn't recommend Alter-Ego if you are set on getting a mint condition box -- at least on larger statues. They shipped my $250 maquette in the plain cardboard factory box (almost the same dimensions as the full color product box). In addition to the statue being chipped, the product box was heavily dented with three crushed corners. Their policy states:

We know it sucks, but damage to the shipper box or packaging does not a damaged item make. That's why the packaging is there - it protects the item from breaking
True, but there is no denying that it hurts the potential resale value when the product box is beat to hell. At least places like BBTS and Entertainment Earth offer a guarantee on the condition of the packaging.

Hot Toys Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Jack Sparrow 1/6 Figure (DX-15)

The diorama base on this is great. Head sculpt looks good as well.

I've never liked the Pirates films but was surprised that Hot Toys is bringing back DX. It's been quite a while since the last one (Mime Joker from Burton's Batman).

Yeah it's a nice figure. I'd like to get the regular edition but I'll see what happens. A Spidey seems essential to my collection and I haven't gotten one yet though. Had the one from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 pre-ordered for a while but wound up cancelling it.

I imagine it is to protect his family and I applaud Sideshow for not outing him.

This is an awesome looking figure, I love the hoodie and blazer look, but I just don't think I am a big enough Spider-Man fan to drop over $250 on it.

I pre ordered mine.

These hot toys are a slippery slope. Started with just wanting captain America last year... now I have 6, and possibly a 7th next week.

They do that when the likeness for the head sculpt is pending approval from the actor and studio.
