Dawn Of The Dead Unrated or Theatrical Release

I'm wondering what type of release are we getting next week?

I read somewhere around here about some other uncut release in another region.

The 'uncut' release in other regions is the Unrated version we are getting next week. It was just released earlier elsewhere.

I am getting that version for sure. Just forget about the R version at all costs. Since there is a choice. It is quite obvious to go for the uncut version,as the R version is quite choppy.

Whenever Universal does two versions, always go for the unrated. simple as that.

Actually Giz,the Unrated version features all the extras + a couple exclusives not available on the rated release!

The only real difference between the two releases,in terms of extras are different menus and cover art designs

Or wait a few more releases for them to release the Ultimate Mega Wouldyoulikeahandjobwiththat Edition. Then get that, because hey...who doesn't like a free handjob?

and the only real cut scenes are

Spoiler:

topless zombie walking near bus
extra shot of Ving and sarah walking in the park near armless zombie
extra shot of them getting into the mall through backdoor
few more shots of group in mall.. nothing to character developing really
extra shot of andy's gun store and how they escaped
extra shot of final view of jake's character

still worth it for the unrated.

I like the rated version's menus better, but that's a silly reason to get that edition. Going with the unrated.

Rated. I have small children in the house and don't think the Unrated will be suitable.

Haha,as if the 'rated' version is 'more suitable' for children. Ahh the hypocrisy with views on ratings

Jack, you make it sound like there are only mere fleeting seconds added to the film, instead of 10 minutes. Now if it were mere seconds. Then depending on which version you pick up. Spending extra money to get the 'right' version is pretty much a waste.

Yet with this film,I would hate to 'accidentally' pick up the rated release. Since there appears to be a big difference between the two. So of course unrated all the way

I can see why there is some confusion on the extra features. Check out this preview of the DOTD DVD releases from the DVDTalk Clips of the Week section on the home page:

http://homevideo.universalstudios.co...e_700k_wmv.asx

In comparing the two releases, it states that the rated version is "loaded with bonus features", then mentions the unrated version with scenes "scripted, shot, and produced exclusively for the DVD". The way the ad copy is phrased, it makes it sound as though the unrated version has fewer bonus features, if any, than the rated version.

I just called my local Blockbuster and the ONLY version of "Dawn of the Dead" that store plans to sell and rent on Tuesday is the unrated version!

Good for them!

By the way, I hope everyone doesn't start threadcrapping about the fact that BB prices suck since I already know that, but I have a gift card I need to finish off!

You can hardly see anything, because the blood stains on the Anna's windshield cover up most of it.

There is a feature called
Surviving The Dawn: Dare To Face Your Fears! A behind-the-screams feature with cast interviews, on-location footage and more!

This isn't shown on the unrated disc

I've seen this film in many different forms. I saw a test screening with a lot of these cut scenes in the film before it came out in theaters. I saw it 4 times when it was released and then I saw the Unrated DVD already. When the film was released in both test screen and theater edition, I was a little let down only by the fact that some characters didn't get much of an introduction of any sort. I was hoping that the Unrated extra time would have put back some character development. It puts a little bit more, but not much.

Trust me when I say this. I have seen the different versions of it. The Unrated is the real way to go, but it's not tossing in anything really major other than the escape from andy's gun shop, that was important to the story. The theater jump cut when they escaped the gun shop was awful and the DC does offer a much better detail view of how it went down.
