im trying to figure out which jimi hendrix best of collection to get, the new one that just came out for 6.99 or the one thats been out for a few years. also, for the wrestling fans, when hulk hogan was in wcw and in the nwo, he came out to a hendrix song that has a very popular guitar riff and is also in a car comercial. does anybody know which one im talking about. thanks alot for the help.

The Smash Hits for 6.99 is a reissue. I don't know if it's remastered or not. It has a lot of the popular stuff but I'd probably go with the disc that came out like a year ago.
As for the song that Hulk walks out to that is is "Voodoo Chile".
Once you get into Hendrix you must check out the Blues album as well as Band of Gypsies. Sweet music.

Getting into Hendrix will open a whole new world of music for you. Get a greatest hits and if you like it post back to theis thread, because honestly his best stuff would never be found on a greatest hits album. Those are just songs that people identify him with.

my only problem (with the radio versions) that a lot of jimis vocals only come in one speaker, which can be a little annoying.
is it like this on the cds

all of the Hendrix discs I have are this way.
Still, IMO, the lyrics aren't the most important part. I listen to Jimi for the guitar.
Personally, I'm not a fan of greatest hits albums. IMHO, the best place to start is "Are You Experienced". After that pick up "Axis: Bold as Love", then "Blues".
There are still plenty more after that, but those three are the best (again, IMO)

I could be wrong but if I'm thinking of the same car/truck commercial as you that was actually Stevie Ray Vaughan's rendition of Voodoo Chile. Just to clear the air. Although I could be wrong.

I'd go over to half.com and get a used copy of the OOP The Ultimate Experience with 20 songs (around 72 minutes) for under $9 shipped.

i got the cheap 9.99 expierence jimi hendrix smash hits collection. its great and has all the major hits. the audio sounds great and sounds so much better than the radio. i am surprised how many bands out there have that sound in some kind of way.
