I would doubt you'd be seeing anything but very fast sales of the discs to clear out the copies remaining and that's it.
Legend has it that more E.T. cartridges were manufactured than 2600 consoles. Somehow they expected a better than 1:1 sales ratio for the game. Dumb.

Having learned a lesson from DVD where I have 1/3 of my discs (easily) still sealed, I only want movies that are truly worthy of multiple viewage.

I found a few D-VHS tapes at Big Lots for $2 each last year mixed in with the regular VHS's (they were all Artisan titles) so some HD-DVDs might show up there, at least the combo discs.

Being able to return ones you purchased won't be affected by this, provided it's still within the 30 day policy. The BINC numbers will remain in our system (for a while, I'd assume) if someone cares to order an HD-DVD, they're just not being stocked in stores.

The instructions were to ship the discs back with the monthly pull list, so it'll vary from store to store. Some may send they back right away, others not until early March. Within a month, though, they'll be out of most Borders.

Yup. Borders would even take back George's bathroom art book as long as they carry it in-store and have a SKU for it.

Amazon.com just drop prices on hd dvd players again. Can't make up my mind between the A30 or A35? I do have a Onkyo 605.

Toshiba HD-A3 - $99.99
Toshiba HD-A30 - $129.99
Toshiba HD-A35 - $220.90

In the HD DVD dead thread there is an article about DVD Empire and Amazon going Blu-ray. Also included is this nice little tidbit...

"In the coming weeks, DVD Empire is planning to put its entire HD DVD inventory on sale. It’s not clear the scale of the discounts that will be offered.

Amazon has not specified upcoming sales. But the site is a well-established spot to find both Blu-ray and HD DVD software deals."
Looking forward to some possible deals...

I'd pick up an A35 if it eventually goes for $100 or so. My HDA1 is still working fine so i'm in no rush to replace it...

I asked for an adjustment on the A3 when it was $109.99. When they approve it, I'll have to say thanks but cough up $10 more.

Looks like no fire sale prices to be had at stores like Future Shop and Best Buy. People are reporting that they're just sending the discs back to the distributor. I'm starting to lean toward ordering online from Amazon.com and DVDEmpire if/when they have some really good deals on titles. But I've never ordered from them before. Since I'm in Canada, what should I expect in terms of shipping and will I be charged customs?

I could see prices may bottom out around $5-6 a disc through various B1G1 offers on the discounted Amazon prices in a few weeks. If so I'd be a buyer again, if not, no big deal as I probably don't need it anyway. The day after Warner announce I listed my A3 on Craigslist for $125 (with $5 HDMI cable from Monoprice) and sold it. I still have the 5 discs coming and will return the other 3 I received to Borders later today.

YMMV...especially since Borders is not going to carry HD-DVD anymore. They would NOT take any of mine back about a month ago.

I bought Planet Earth on HD DVD for my brother's birthday at the beginning of the month for about $55 USD on amazon.com. Well, it didn't arrive until 4 days before Toshiba's announcement, so he hadn't even opened it yet. I told him to exchange it at Walmart, since he was complaining that HD was dead. They gave him a $95 CAD store credit! Lucky bastard...

Is the A-30 a much better machine than the A-3 ? I already have a 360 add-on but was thinking about getting a stand alone player because we were needing one for our upstairs. Our TV is only 720P, 1080 I , so we would not be able to use the 1080 P output of the A-30. Is it worth the extra 30 bucks for the A-30. Also do you guys think this is going to go much lower in the next month or should I buy now. Thanks

Was the Onkyo player confirmed to be the A35 with improved DAC's?

A35 is $169.99 with free shipping from Tiger Direct through Amazon.com. To bad they want $32 to ship to Hawaii.
