just add "Ocean's Thirteen" and "Live Free or Die Hard" which i will have by Tuesday and i am at 28. "Pan's" and "12 Monkeys" were made R1 by inserting the dvds from the standard case.
i just like the way they feel on my skin

Ocean's Thirteen

Of the four Future Shop stores in my city, one is sold out and a second only has four copies left. I might check out a third store tomorrow, as I will be in that area. I still say that it is too early to say that O13 is rare.

I was informed today that my Steelbook copy of Live Free or Die Hard was inadvertently shipped a week early.

The current Pirate 2 bid price has now entered the crazy price zone.

IMHO, I don't think that the recent batch of steelbooks released such as Ocean's Thirteen will be "rare" or hard to find compared to the early ones such as Cars, Little Mermaid, V for Vendetta, PotC 2 or X3.

Also the popularity of the "special" packaging has grown tremendously since when it was first released and it seems that every big movie is getting a steelbook treatment making it less special.

i think "special" is in the eye of the beholder. i could care less if a steelbook is rare or hard to find. i simply love this particular packaging above any else for the movies i love and will continue to pay a couple $$ extra for them.

it doesn't necessary make me want to have it just bc it is sought after or 'ultra' rare or whatever. bottomline, is i won't buy them or seek them out if i have no interest in the movie whatsoever. i even hesitated putting a pic up of my collection as to have others think i was boasting or whatever. this is a silly little cog in my vast collection anyway.

some might say x3 is the best in my collection, but as i said before that "12 monkeys" book is the nicest i have ever seen and sought it out bc of that and the movie in it that i adore. die hard is another gem bc dh is my fav movie of all time and i would infinity dip on its releases. i want batman begins bc i am enthralled with that movie and the case looks good.

so special to me, but if not to anyone else then to each his own.

If you're referring to the Todd McFarlane's Spawn: The Animated Collection - The 10th Anniversary Edition with 4-discs and if my research is correct, the Steelbook is a Best Buy USA exclusive.

Regardless of the Steelbook, I hear that this is a must have, if you are a Todd McFarlane fan.

The Bestbuy Exclusive version comes with a first-run Comic book which is "glued" to the back of the steelbook case.

Just sharing it here, I think this is a favorable thread than the other one in the main DVDtalk.

Nice collection you have there. Is there any difference between Futureshop and TWEC exclusive transformer steelbooks?

No, basically the same (even the audio encoding). The only very minor differences were the exclusive stickers, UPC, and the back sticker info.

Well, only the winner of that auction can answer your question, as to why he bid the amount that he did.

The fact that I can't easily find all the sequels keeps me from investing in a lot of steelbooks. I don't want to have X-Men 1 & 2 in steelbooks and the third one in a regular case - that's stupid. And I'm sure as hell not paying $200 for it, so instead I end up foregoing the other 2 as well. The studios should do up the whole series and release them all to retail (even if it's only for a limited time). And these ones where the steelbook edition is 1 disc when there's a 2-Disc SE on the market are equally dumb. Why should I have to downgrade the DVD just to get a better case?

Hello joliom,

Good post.

X-Men 1.5 was released in the USA only. X-Men 2 was released in Canada and the USA. X-Men 3 was released only in Canada. Why do I have a funny suspicion that they will release all three X-Men's in a three Steelbook Boxset / Collection. It is already done in Europe. And tomorrow, you can get all four Die Hard Steelbooks.

Interesting, this will be the second Steelbook version of Die Hard 1 released in Canada. It was first released in June, 2007.

This is another variation of the double, triple and quadruple dip.

The first few Future Shop Exclusive Steelbooks were produced in much lower quantities than their recent Exclusive Steelbooks...I'm sure they were "testing them market", to see the demand for such a limited edition with a higher price...they all sold out...thus, we now get one for almost every new release with much higher quantities in stock...

Also, just recently the company which produces Steelbooks opened up its first production plant in North America (in Ohio I think)...so look to see more and more Steelbooks, for more and more new releases and re-releases

Not true, it was also available at their Best Buy's in Canada.

So any confirmation on whether or not all the Die Hards are in fact the 2-Disc versions?
