Re: National anthem protests top reason NFL viewers tuned out

I was so outraged I stopped watching the NFL 39 years ago when I was born.

Who wants to bet this was a push-poll?

Dollars to doughnuts the people who said they watched less football were offered a list of reasons to pick from by the pollster.

Politics are the new primetime sport. I fully expect people to show up with body paint, spelling out "T R U M P" and wearing two cans of beer on their hat in 2020.

And don't forget beating the crap out of those who support the other team.

Sure, provided you can show where I started a ridiculous thread promoting some factually incorrect propaganda and then posted that meme as a response to being proven wrong.

P.S. I was right with mine at least. He didn't have the votes.

Seems about right. Trump's anti-democratic rhetoric (rigged elections, fake polls) is preparing people for third-world style elections where nobody has faith in the results.

How about not doing the Anthem at the beginning of sporting events that have nothing to do with patriotism. I don't know when it started but we're not talking about the Olympics here.

Re: National anthem protests top reason NFL viewers tuned out

I'm confused? Am I supposed to be outraged by the protestor or by the people who now watch less because of the protestor?

Course I'm still confused on my Cowboys making a quick decision on cutting a WR for getting arrested only to find out it was a case of mistaken identities and the WR did nothing wrong...

Re: National anthem protests top reason NFL viewers tuned out

So 12% of people watched less football and 27% watched more. Did they ask why the change for those who watched more? Considering more than twice as many people fall into that category, it may well be that the protests had a positive effect on viewing habits. Not that it really matters. I'm confused why this is even news or a thread. Apparently some people just squiggle with glee at the thought of 3% of a random sample group agreeing with their political views?

...and, as Deadspin noted, NFL ratings did take a dip. If ratings dropped and this survey suggests that significantly more people increased their viewing than decreased, that'd certainly seem to put the results into question.

It's also possible that the 12% who watched less watched significantly less and the 27% who watched more watched, like, one more game a season.

Or, they could have lied.

It started during WWII and should have ended after. We don't have the anthem before movies at the theater or concerts, or before a Jeopardy match. Why? Because it's stupid. How many of those who quit watching football over it stand during the anthem at home.

I'm cool with it though. No skin off my back if they want to play the anthem. I can roll with the flow.

I never stood up for the Pledge Of Allegiance. My teacher in homeroom would always get offended on the first day of school when I told them I would not be standing. I also refused to go to an assembly one year when Bush Sr. gave a speech at my school.

I skipped the presidential debates and watched MNF Falcons vs Saints and a SNF game Giants @ Packers.

Does that make me a bad American?

A few decades ago he would have been arrested in a no-tell motel room with three or four hookers and enough blow to shame most of Mexico (and tried to claim he was innocent) and they would have given him a pay raise. And now his bitch ass is working as a commentator.

Which puts him on equal footing with those of us who watched the debates.

This thread now has pics of one of the best looking NFL quarterbacks ever in it as well as a pic of the ugliest NFL quarterback ever.

Related to this issue:

Is Colin Kaepernick now just too polarizing for any of the NFL teams?
