C-Span's total archive online - recommendations???
Apologies if this already has a thread; I did a search and came up nil but maybe didn't do the search properly. Or maybe it should be in the TV forum.
So it looks like C-Span recently put its entire history online. Every show, every hearing, every speech, forum, call-in, Booknotes, etc. viewable and searchable by name, topic, year, etc. http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/ I'm actually curious what would be some of the more entertaining things to watch. This library goes back to the mid-to-late 80s. What are some of the most dramatic C-Spanny events worth re-visiting today? Assuming there are some? |

The dictionary is online too. Start with N, it's hilarious.

No idea on the C-Span site, but you can find some pretty good stuff, including some great Presidential speeches at http://www.archive.org/details/audio_news

I enjoyed the series on the history and architecture of the United States Capitol.

Do they have BookTv?!! There have been some great panel discussions and quite a few good solo talks.

Thanks for that, T2Phil.
And they do have Book TV, almost 10,000 programs! http://www.c-spanvideo.org/browse?browse=series&id=5 It seems like there is just endless material available but not a lot of user-generated feedback. There is a "most watched" sorter but that's it. |

Re: C-Span's total archive online - recommendations???
^^^ On a "related" note:
Here is an LA news broadcast about the 1992 Rodney King trial riots: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/AngelesT And here is George Bush Sr. addressing the nation in the wake of the verdict. Riots were in progress.... http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/PoliceTrial As a bonus, before cutting to the presidential address C-Span left in about 30 seconds of a call-in show that Bush interrupted, and the caller is some maniac in Anaheim in mid-rant about the IRS "tearing into people's homes," lol. White House Christmas stuff and 4th of July shows definitely!
Maybe they even have the British PM questions. I think the SCOTUS justices have been in some interviews. 40 year Apollo anniversary - I know Buzz was there, but not sure if that was interesting. |
